The next morning came too early for Annika's liking. But she couldn't do anything about it. Her conscious was occupied with ways to convince Sameer's mother and trying to find more logical faults in their alliance so she had weight to her words.
She stared at herself in the mirror. The maroon off shoulder jumpsuit with odd shaped metal earrings looked nice. But she wasn't checking out her outfit. She was looking for confidence.
Giving herself a assuring smile she walked towards the door of the room meanwhile checking her phone. Swiping the various notifications from Instagram she tapped on the what's app message notification from Sameer. She had asked if he had left his house with his parents.
He had replied saying that he'd there in twenty minutes. There were a lot of messages from Gauri too but Annika didn't open her chat box , she had a huge task at her hand distraction was not a option.
She entered the living area and saw her her mother instructing the servants of something.
When Madhuri noticed Annika she dismissed the servants. And walked up to her. Her face had no readable expression but Annika knew better. She knew Madhuri the best in the family, because only she has seen the real her.
Madhuri Singhal always had plan B prepared. And even if it's not then she made sure that the ball landed in her court.
"So , ready?" She asked Annika.
"I should be the one asking that. Are you ready to watch your plan fail?" Annika tested her luck. She wanted to know if Madhuri had something up.
"You know a smart person never lets the mistake of his opponent go waste, he takes full advantage of it. But do you know who's smarter?" Madhuri asked smiling cunningly.
"The person who can make every step of his enemy as his mistake! Even the right doings give a negative outcome. So in that case one should always watch their back. You know , you never know!"
Madhuri went away leaving Annika in mess of thoughts. She glanced at Madhuri direction realizing a shuddering breath. Her gut twisted in anticipation of what the next few hours held for her.

The spoons clinked against the plates as everyone was silently having a mental conversation with their own self while having breakfast.
Madhuri along with the family had welcomed the Taneja's. Madhuri had given Mrs Taneja a knowing look while Mrs Taneja anxiousness written over her face.
Annika had too greeted Sameer's parents with hesitant smiles. No one said but everyone had anticipation of the upcoming drama.
Annika stared at her almost empty plate and realized she had to keep her point during the breakfast and not after that. She cleared her throat and glanced at her brother for some assurance. He stared at her for a second before blinking his eyes.
"Aunty, uncle thank you for accepting to come over" she started.
"That is not needed dear! You're family. By the way Sameer was saying that you guys have something important to tell." Mrs Taneja smiled as she replied to Annika.
Annika took a breath in before beginning "I and Sameer have been friends from college days. Have been in relationship for around two years. During this time span we faced tough situations together. I have played a part in his life and he has a important place in my life
