☆ He read her silence ☆
The cool wind was blowing slowly and steadily. There was silence which was too deep because the night held a lot of things.
The night had a brother's pain , the helplessness of a sister , the obliviousness of people and a mother's misdeeds.
He walked towards her with unsure steps not knowing if she'll let him be with her vulnerable self or not.
Just like how eight years ago he felt when he saw her in the backyard sitting alone crying.
As if she sensed him she spoke "I am not in a mood to talk Shivaay, please leave"
However, he didn't comply and leaned on the railing on which she was sitting.
She said nothing but he heard her , he always did. It was something he had taken up when they were kids.
He read her silence!
She didn't need to express herself or pretend because he had mastered the art of reading her.
She was probably contemplating on options she had. By what Aditya had told him he knew her mother was again upto something. Annika never lost control on herself till the moment things went to extreme.
They stood in silence for a few moments and she said, "why did everything screwed up this badly, Shivaay ?"
He shook his head. "You always find a way too ,Annika."
She closed her eyes and tried to stabilise her over thinking brain. She fell quite again and he did not break it.
They sat silently and watched the world around them. This took a lifetime to learn. It seemed that only old are able to sit next to one another and not say anything and still feel content.
The young, brash and impatient, always broke the silence. It was a waste, for silence is pure. Silence is holy. It draws people together because only those who are comfortable with each other can sit without speaking. This is the great paradox.
Silence gives time to accept , comtemplate and process the happenings of life.
"What should I do ?" She asked for the first time in all these years as she slowly got down from the railing trying hard to not hurt her already sprained ankle.
He looked surprised but then smiled hold her hand and supporting her to slowly keep her feet on the floor "Firstly, you should not ask me. And secondly you should do what you always do. Do the right thing!"
She pondered on his words. He was playing with her mind or with his words. He said she should do what she always does but he also said that she should do what's right.
All this while she was right ? Or she was wrong?
She was looking out for his words , his words that showed her a way to be out of the prism of complex situations.
Annika was like a ray of light and her life was a prism. She passed through it everytime but somehow she always was trapped in it.
"What do you think is the right thing to do? "
He passed her alluring smile and said "There is nothing like wrong and right thing to do! "
"Will you stop being so diplomatic and answer directly!" She spoke irritated
"It is the situation, it somehow always is the situation which is to be blamed. No one's at fault when things go out of control.
What do you think your mother right now would be sleeping soundly?
