"What. Is. THAT?" Anli grabbed the diary out of Mihoko's hand. "Oh no, now I'm in serious trouble." I murmured. "A diary...YOU HAVE BEEN MAINTAINING THIS FOR LIKE HALF A YEAR NOW, AND YOU DIDN'T EVEN TELL ME??? HOW RUDE IS THAT?" She kicked my knee, put the diary on the table and ran away. "Is she not familiar with the concept of secret diaries...?" I groaned, falling on the bed, "Her kicks are really strong". I heard a faint giggle, like someone was trying to hold their laugh. As I looked over to Mihoko, her face was all red, skip a few seconds, she burst out laughing, "Sorry, couldn't hold it in." She was laughing for a whole 15 minutes. If I look over at it now, She was in my room, sitting by my side, watching the evening moon. I was having the best time with her...
Even though I had done the assignment with Anli, I was not able to do the research with Mihoko, we weren't making any progress on it. *phone rings* "Ugh, who is it now?" As I checked the phone, it was a random phone number.
"Hello?"
"Phew, finally got your number, if you're gonna ask who this is, it's your neighbour speaking." I heard Mihoko's voice.
"WHERE DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER FROM?"
"Why do you care anyway? But I'll still tell you, got it from Akira. Anyways, you wanna come over for the research? WE AREN'T REALLY WORKING ON IT YOU KNOW!"
"I reaaallyyy can't right now, I have to do something more important."
"I wonder what's more important than the research... You're gonna tell me that later okay?"
"I will."
And then I went to Anli's place for an apology which I didn't even know what for. *I knocked on the door* Just when I was about to say something, thinking Anli was the one at the door, I see Anli's mom in front of me. "Hello Asahi, are you looking for Anli?" She asked.
"I am, is she not home?"
"She's not, but you can probably find her in the park." She answered.
Hearing that, I immediately rushed off to the park where I saw her feeding the pigeons. Walking over to her, I started off by saying, "Look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you about the diary, but IT WAS A SECRET DIARY! Mihoko just went into my room and read it, and that too without my permission."
"So we're having secrets now, I see." She said while sitting on the bench.
"It's not like that...I'M PRETTY SURE YOU HAVE SOME SECRETS HIDDEN FROM ME TOO!" It was like something struck her mind as I said that.
"Nope, I've always considered you as my best friend, which means no secrets between us shall exist." She gave me a smile. I felt like she was hiding something from me. After having a long conversation and sorting things out, we left the park.
As we were walking to the ice-cream parlour, suddenly Anli started running somewhere, she really is weird. Looking up, I saw it was Akira, "So you finally got bored." I said as he walks towards me. "I did not, I was actually loving the comfort, just missed hanging out with you guys."
"Oh look, somebody actually missed us! (Especially me, of course. I'm the favourite one here.)" Anli was being sarcastic. "
"What is it now?" Akira whispered into my ear, putting his arm on my shoulder. "She didn't make any sense in an argument." I answered, whispering.
"Shall we go for ice-cream, or you wanna stay here, having a tête-à-tête?"
"Of course, let's go!"
"-Let's go, yeah."
The original trio, back again! It felt so nostalgic yet so wrong somehow, walking with them, under the clear, starry sky, but something was missing... you. You were missing.
The Next Morning
I woke up, trying to get used to the brightness around me, and realized I had fallen asleep writing the diary. It was okay though because I had had a nice peaceful, and dreamless sleep, which was rare by the way. I stood up, looked around and realized that the diary was missing...
