Chapter 55

I'm FaceTiming Ethan, because someone needs help on their homework.

"Ok, that's it! You're a certified genius! How?! How the hell are you so smart?!" Ethan groans.

"I'm not smart really, just good at remembering certain things."

"Ha, remembering things is not my thing.... Oh hey! Guess what? Leo got a girlfriend!"

I raise my eyebrow. "Really? One at his school?"

"Nope. One at ours. He said he met her when he was on a run."

I sit up. "Really? Because Katlyn said she met her boyfriend on a run."

"Did she give you a name of the dude?" Ethan asks.

"No, did Leo?"

"No." Ethan squints his eyes for a second. "LEO!!!! COME HERE!!!" Ethan yells.

"What are you doing? We're working on your homework remember?"

"Hm?" Ethan asks looking back to me. "What'd you say?"

"Homework, Ethan. Homework."

"Oh right. Homework." Ethan mumbles. Then grins. "Leo!"

Leo walks into frame, then snatches Ethan phone and runs away. "Guess what bestie?!"

"LEO GIVE ME MY PHONE BACK!!!" I hear Ethan yell in the background.

"What?" I ask, already knowing what it's gonna be.

"I got a girlfriend! Yes, me, the dude who's never dated before. I met her when I went for a run. She's so beautiful! And when we first met, we became run buddies and now we're dating! I really really like her."

"That's great Leo. Great."

Leo grins. "Are you proud of me?"

I chuckle. "Yes Leo. I am. Now I just have one question about your girlfriend. Does her name happen to be Katlyn?"

"Yeah! How'd you know?!" Leo says grinning, laughing when Ethan yells at Leo again.

"She's my cousin."

"Ah, now I see why she fell for me. Your family just has a thing for us Boyds."

I laugh, remembering how Vance told me he's dating my younger cousin Melody who's thirteen. "I guess so."

There's a knock on my door, so I tell Leo bye, and hang up. I open my door, seeing my dad grinning as he holds an adorable puppy in his hands.

"Guess what?!" He says happily, dumping the puppy in my arms, and I my jaw drops. I am very confused right now, but this puppy is the cutest thing ever!

"What?"

"I got you a dog!" Dad says clapping his hands. "The older couple down the road found the puppy tied to a tree, and took her to the vet. No one knew who the dog belonged to, and there's chip. So the vets said the couple can keep the dog if they'd like, or send her to a rescue. Since the nice older couple is moving to Hawaii, they wanted to see if we'd take the dog because they know I've rescued animals before. Just a hairless cat, may Norwood rest in peace, and Kermit the leg less puppy who I constantly dyed green, my he rest in peace too. So obviously I took this poor little girl, because she's so cute, and I can't say no to old people. And since you've been like, the bestest daughter in the world, and I love you so much, and am so happy to have you back, even if you don't trust me fully yet, I thought to gift you with a puppy! Plus you've always asked for a puppy when you were younger."

"So the dog is mine? What about Max and Clara? Or Emery and Eiden when they're born?"

"They don't care who the dog belongs to as long as they get to pet her." Dad says shrugging.
