"I'll take the Asian salad with extra mango in it and just green tea for me." Jennifer said to the waiter.

"Geez, sweetie. Counting calories much?" I said, smirking at her. I noticed her glare at me while Chris held my hand.

Both Jack and Jennifer were now done ordering while Chris and I were still looking at the menu.

"Okay, I'll take the baby back ribs with potato salad and for the drinks, a glass of white wine for me. For dessert, chocolate ice cream cake please. What about you, baby?" I said to Chris as the three of them looked at me.

"Geez, eat much?" Jennifer commented. I noticed that Jack kicked her on her foot since I got hit a little.

"Sweetheart, I eat a lot but I never get fat. Unlike most people." I said, faking a smile at her.

"Okay, I'm going to take the same with the beautiful lady beside me." Chris said to the waiter as the waiter wrote it down and left.

I looked at Chris and stared at him for a moment. I noticed that his eyes were a bit darker than before. He looked tired but still sexy. When Chris noticed that I was staring at him for a while now, he titled his head to me. "Is there something wrong?"Chris whispered at me. I smiled at him.

I missed him so much. It has been almost two weeks since I last saw him... heard his voice... touched him and... smelled him.

"N-Nothing. I just missed you." I said and kissed his cheek. He smiled in reply and held my hand tighter. But I still couldn't help but notice that there was something off about him and I don't know what.

After the appetizers has been served and we waited for our next course. I couldn't help but notice that Jack has been staring at me when he had the chance and Chris has been silent for a while now. Jennifer? Well she's being Jennifer herself who flirts with almost every waiter that passes by our table.

"So Hailey, Chris, tell us your story." Jack said so suddenly leaving me and Chris look at each other, speechless.

"O-Our story? W-What do you mean story?" I asked, feeling a drop of sweat on my forehead.

"Yeah, about how you guys met." Jack replied, raising an eyebrow at us.

Chris held my hand out again.

"Do you want me to do the story telling this time, baby?" Chris said, winking at me while he held my hand tighter. I was left speechless so he must have sensed that I was nervous. I nodded in reply.

"So we met in a misunderstanding." Chris started. Misunderstanding?

"Before that, I first saw her with a little boy who I thought was her son in the park." He chuckled.

"I'm just kidding. The little boy she was with seemed lost so she tried to ask everyone in the park if any one of them saw the little boy's mother. When Hailey first talked to me at that moment, she seemed shy. She was avoiding eye contact with me. I felt bad to myself for not knowing where that little boy's mother was, if I did, I could have been a hero not only to that little boy but also to Hailey." Chris looked at me and smiled.

"You know what my biggest mistake at that time was?" Chris asked, looking at us.

"What?" Jack answered curiously.

"I didn't get to introduce myself to her." Chris sighed as he looked at me into the eyes. I didn't remember meeting him at the park. Or did I?

"Moving on, so on my first day in Colton College, I passed by a familiar face. I wasn't sure if it was really the face that I was looking for, so I followed her. She got in the ladies' room and I waited for her outside. I was really that desperate to maybe see her again." Chris sighed, holding my hand tighter.

"It took her so long in the bathroom so I went in and checked if she was okay. It was a matter of timing that when I got in the ladies' room, she got out of the cubicle. I said to myself 'this is it. the girl that I have been looking for'... but it wasn't a matter of destiny for her. She got creeped out by me and left in a hurry... again, I didn't get the chance to introduce myself." I looked at Chris's unreadable deep blue eyes... of course I remembered this scene.

"What a wonderful first impression you made," Jack chuckled, so did Jennifer who listened well.

"Yeah, wonderful indeed. But the story doesn't stop there... So I ran to the grocery store to buy some beer for my friends since it was the championship game of the century... and bumped into her there. She didn't see me yet. So I did the gayest thing a guy ever did." Chris paused, looking at me.

"You bought everything I bought." I answered, looking at him. He looked at me and smiled.

"From food to tampons?" Jennifer asked, excited. She was a good listener huh?

"From food to tampons." Chris chuckled. I remember it so well.

"So did you see him take everything you took?" Jack asked, smiling at us.

"Yeah, I did when we met at the counter. I got really creeped out that I thought he was a stalker." I giggled. Everything seems clear to me now...

"So did you introduce yourself to Hailey then?" Jack asked again.

"Nope. I didn't. She looked really creeped out and left immediately." Chris answered, pouting at me.

"You lost your chance again. Ugh! What happened next?" Jennifer asked, sounding really excited. She seemed to enjoy Chris's storytelling about us.

"Alright, moving on. So I went out for an afternoon run since I didn't have anything to do then. And I saw a very hot sweaty woman running past me. I knew who it was so I followed the direction she went to. I was new in town so I really didn't know where to go so following Hailey was an indirect way to learn some places." Chris sighed once again, making everyone on the table sigh too.

"Please tell me she saw you and you introduced yourself to her already!" Jennifer complained. Chris let out a chuckle once more.

"That's correct. She saw me and made the same face every time we see each other. That "What a stalker" face she made. I wasn't surprised myself. I didn't make quite the first impression, remember? But no, I didn't get to introduce myself to her just yet. She left, running rapidly." Chris continued, letting out a sigh as he held my hand tighter. I just looked at him, trying to read his eyes.

"So how did you introduce yourself to her then?" Jack asked. Chris just laughed. "Baby, do you want to answer that question?" Chris asked me, his eyes lighter than before.

"I confronted him at school about him being such a creepy stalker to me. He said his name and that was it." I answered, hoping they got the answer that they wanted.

"That's it? So after that you became a couple?" Jennifer asked, looking awed at us.

"Yeah, we'll just tell you that part next time. I'm hungry!" Chris answered, looking at our food that was served to us.

"How cliche," Jennifer said, rolling her eyebrows at us. She seemed annoyed. How bipolar of her.

I looked at Chris once more realizing that he wasn't such a stalker. That I just made that fantasy up to myself. He was right. We met in a misunderstanding.

Everything seems to be so clear to me now.
