"So... Chris is in there huh..." I said, still sitting in the car, looking outside the window, crying silently. Mace was still in the driver's seat too.
"He is..." Mace paused and reached out for a paper bag on the back seat.
"Hailey, before we go in, wear this." he handed me the paper bag and got the contents inside. It was a simple but elegant white dress that reached my toes and white Chanel shoes. "Why? Why do I have to wear this?"
"Honey, I didn't want them to see you in that. I was told to wear formal clothes when we come by. So I stopped by at some shops before coming to get you." Mace explained. Of course. That explains why there were a lot of cars parked outside. A lot of rich people must've visited his wake.
"I'll give you time to change. And please, sweetheart, wipe and clean your face. I have wet wipes in the compartment. Just come out when you're done. Don't worry. The car's tinted so nobody will see you change."
I didn't want to change and waste time, but then again, I didn't want to waste Mace's effort and money into buying me these clothes for me.
I quickly changed into the dress and wore my shoes. I also wiped my face. I didn't want to retouch my make up since I was aching on my insides. I needed to see Chris. I got out of the car and saw Mace lean on the back seat's door.
"Ready?" Mace asked me, prompting for a smile.
"I guess this will be the last time I'll be seeing him, right? Let's just go." I replied, trying to stop myself from crying.
When we reached the closed doors, I let out a big sigh. This is it. The first time I've seen him after how many years and the last time I'll be seeing him forever. I just looked down at my feet, fighting the tears that were threatening to fall anytime soon.
When I felt Mace open the door for me, I heard Jason Derulo's introduction of the song Marry Me play. (A/N: You can listen to it by clicking the link in the first part of the chapter. :))
I looked up from my feet and saw familiar faces look at me and smile. The church was filled with the people I knew. Even my whole family was here!
I looked around and saw petals of white and red roses on the red carpet that lead to the altar where a familiar man in a black tuxedo and slicked back hair, who was smiling at me. When his eyes met mine, he started walking to me.
I saw Mace stand beside me and I still didn't get what was going on.
"Mace, what's going on?! I thought you said he's dead!" I said, sounding confused.
Mace just laughed at me."Oh no I didn't, sweetie. You thought wrong. You didn't let me explain, remember?"
I rolled my eyes at him. Right.
Suddenly, I felt Chris come near me already.
And if I lost everything
In my heart it means nothing
'Cause I have you,
Girl, I have you
To get right down on bended knee
Nothing else would ever be better, better
That day when...
I'll say, "Will you marry me?"
I swear that I will mean it
I'll say, "Will you marry me?"
