"What's with that look?" Chris asked as he snapped his fingers in front of my face.

"You actually live here? At Fig Avenue?" I asked.

"You forgot, didn't you? How come you're so forgetful all the time?"

I just looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"Remember? Last Friday afternoon? We bumped into each other? In front of my house? You were jogging? In front of my house? Last Friday afternoon? " Chris replied, also raising his eyebrow.

Oh right. It was before Mace's party. How could I forget?

"Okay, okay. I remember now." I exclaimed.

"I bet you still don't remember the night after the party, don't 'cha?"

I just raised an eyebrow in reply since it was true. I still didn't remember anything that happened after Mace's party.

"Congratulations, Hailey! You deserve an award for being so forgetful!  Hailey Green, everybody! A round of applause please!" Chris said as he clapped his hands in front of me.

"All right,  all right! You don't have to rub it in my face!" I exclaimed loudly.

Suddenly, Chris covered my mouth with his hand. "Shush, Hailey. You'll wake little Sarah up."

"Wowiwowowarewouwoing?!" I asked, trying to remove his hand that covered my mouth. Geez. His grip was tight.

Chris looked at me confusingly and raised an eyebrow. "What? I don't understand." he  asked again before removing his hand that was on my mouth. I rolled my eyes.  "What in the world are you doing?!" I immediately replied after he removed his hand.

"I said shut it, Hailey. Little Sarah's going to wake up soon if you don't shut up." he replied, looking at me with his deep blue eyes.

"Okay, okay. But really though, you didn't have to rub it in my face. I admit that I tend to be forgetful sometimes." I admitted, trying to look away from him.

"I was just kidding, Hailey." Chris assured.

"Uhm, Hailey?"

"What?" I asked.  Why do I have a bad feeling about something so suddenly?

"Since we're face to face right now, may I take this opportunity to explain some things to you?" Chris asked as he looked at me straight into my eyes. This was it. His note. He was about to explain everything to me like he said so in his note which he placed inside my purse.  I could feel my heart rate increase at the moment.  Why am I feeling so nervous?

"Uhm, sure. Go ahead."

"Before anything else, please don't interrupt while I speak, okay? You can ask or react later after I have explained things, promise?" he asked, raising his pinky finger. How childish.  I crossed my pinky finger in his so he would tell me what he wants to say.

"Okay. Listen, Hailey, I'm not a stalker. When I  first saw you that day at the park, you were helping a little boy find his mother. You described me the little boy's mother while you held his hand. When I told you I didn't see his mother, the little boy suddenly cried and called out your name. That's when I knew your name, Hailey. I couldn't stop thinking about you after that incident. I asked my friends if they knew any girl named 'Hailey', but they all said there were a lot of Hailey in the world, which was true.

I tried to forget about you since I didn't know anything else about you. You were so hard to find." Chris let out a big sigh and continued.

" I was a transferee at Colton College when I bumped into you. I wasn't sure that it was really you though, so I followed you. You were in the bathroom for so long that I couldn't help but wonder what happened to you. I entered the women's bathroom, even though it was really really embarrassing. Believe me, when my friends found out about me entering the women's bathroom, they laughed at me for two weeks." Chris was now looking at me deeply with his deep blue eyes as he continued.

"Anyway, you got out of the cubicle and looked at me weirdly. That was the face I found at the park. It was beautiful, Hailey. You were beautiful.  And then there was a time when I was jogging around the block and I found you running, too. We were running in the same direction when you're back suddenly turned to me. You looked at me with your goddamn beautiful bluegreen eyes weirdly. It was that face again. That beautiful face. I wanted to follow you to where you were running to, Hailey. But I thought you would think of me as a stalker, which you actually did..."

" And theeeen there's this one time I saw you at the grocery store. You still had an empty push cart like mine. I wondered what you liked to eat, so I took everything you took from every aisle. I know it's really weird, and I'm sorry. I was just really really curious about you, Hailey. When you noticed me again and stared at me with your beautiful deep blue green eyes, I couldn't help but stare at you as well. But that time, it wasn't the face you made when I first met you. It was a new face. You looked like you were angry and annoyed.

I really didn't mean to bump into you all the time. It was all just a coincidence. But because I really wanted to know more of you, so I had you investigated. I'm so so sorry, Hailey. But I promise, it wasn't meant for something bad. I just really really really wanted to know you. So when you finally spoke to me last Friday, I felt like the luckiest man in the world. Even if you sort of embarrassed me in front of everyone that time, I felt really happy. So please, Hailey. Stop calling me a stalker, will you? Please don't misunderstand me. Okay. I'm done. You may react now."

I stared at him for a while. "So you weren't following me around?"

"Nope. It was all just a coincidence, Hailey." Chris answered with a smirk.

"And you had me investigated?"

"Uhm, yeah." Chris muttered under his breath. Wasn't investigating me considered as stalking?

"So you were stalking me?" I asked raising my eyebrow.

"Wha- No! No, Hailey. I said I wasn't stalking you. I was just investigating you." he replied brushing his hand through his hair.

"It's a synonym for stalking." I said as I stared at him. It really was a synonym.

"Stalking is when someone follows you everywhere. Investigating is getting information from you.  Know the difference, Hailey."

"There is no difference, Chris."

"Yes, there is!" Chris muttered. He looked cute when he argued with me. But seriously though, there was no difference at all.

"If you say so." I simply said, rolling my eyes.

"And please, stop rolling your eyes. It's seriously gonna pop out of your face." Chris said with to frown. How cute. I rolled my eyes again.

"So do we have an understanding, Hailey?" Chris asked with his questioning face.  Well, he did explain his side to me. It was wrong of me to have judged him directly.

"Sure, Chris." I simply replied.

Chris's eyes sparkled for a moment and smiled. "Great! Okay, can we start over?" Chris asked.  I nodded in reply.

"Hi, I'm Chris Martin. I just turned twenty four months ago. And I live at Fig Avenue. And, uhm, I have my eyes on someone right now and I'm trying real hard to be friends with her. "

I simply smiled at him.

"Hi, I'm Hailey Green. Well, uhm, I'm still nineteen years old and will turn twenty eight weeks from now. And uhm, I live at Fig Avenue, too. Oh, I'm also really approachable. You can talk to me anytime!"
