"Why don't you come inside?" Sasaki offered, letting go of me and smiling warmly. "You can stay the night, if you'd like, Y/n-Chan."
I nodded, walking beside her into her home. "Ah, by the way, Sasaki," I began. "Can I have your contact information?"
She turned to me like I'd said something crazy. "What? You don't have it?" I shook my head slowly.
"I don't think so."
"You don't think so?" She chuckled. "Y/n-Chan, sometimes you're more like a child than you realize. Who knew your memory was so delicate?"
I tilted my head as she pulled out her phone and tapped it a few times. Then, she showed me the screen. Sure enough, my name was there. "We've even talked a bunch on here, you know!" She laughed again. "Jeez, Y/n-Chan. Sometimes I wonder how you've ever managed to survive on your own."
I pouted in defeat and took off my shoes. "How could I forget such a thing?" I asked myself, hitting my head in annoyance as the front door was suddenly knocked on. I nearly toppled over from the sudden banging. I did certainly jump, though.
Sasaki skipped to the door, singing, "Coming!" She threw it open to reveal Jotaro slouching by the front door panting. He wore his pajama pants without a shirt and his hair was all over his head, you'd think he was more insane than me.
"Jotaro?" I gasped as the realization that he was actually standing in front of me hit me. "What are you doing here?!"
Sasaki giggled, holding her phone with a sly smile. "I contacted him the minute I saw you walking alone on my street."
I glared at her in annoyance. How could she do such a thing, knowing I was probably running away from him.
Suddenly, Jotaro was pulling me out of the house and away from Sasaki. "Don't forget your shoes, lovebirds!" She called out.
I ran back and took my shoes, yanking them from her helpful hands before returning to Jotaro. "Thanks, Sasaki! I'll be sure to text you!" I waved goodbye.
Jotaro was most definitely angry. Well, his scent didn't tell me that, but he could've been concealing it somehow. He was a man of many tricks, after all.
"Sorry, Jotaro," I finally decided to say. He looked at me blankly. "Sorry I ran away."
"Why did you run?" He asked with a short sigh.
I lowered my head in shame before telling him the truth. Everything. About my mother and the words she'd said. About my doubt and overthinking. And about how I was angry when he'd confessed to me. He didn't say a word throughout the whole explanation.
"Have you changed your mind?" He suddenly asked. I looked at him with a brow raised.
"About what?"
"Have you decided that you love me?" He asked.
Had I? I wondered if I had. Sasaki seemed sure I did. Mother seemed sure I would never. But what about me? He turned to me and stared into my e/c eyes patiently. His blue orbs were so welcoming. Every day, when I looked into them, I saw nothing but a calm ocean looking back at me.
I surprised both myself and him by laughing. I nodded with a bright smile. "Yeah," I giggled. "I think I've decided to love you!"
