Although my interaction with Mother was cut short, thanks to Jotaro, I still felt quite shaken by it. I felt frozen, as though the worst was yet to come. But... did I need to feel that way anymore?
"Jotaro," I began, my eyes still staring at the door. "You'll protect me, right?"
His hand slid off my shoulder, and my eyes grew wider. What? I thought, my mind beginning to race. Was the answer not yes?
However, his hand then landed on my waist, and he pulled me to him slowly until my back was pressed against him and his breath was warm on my flushed ear.
"Of course," He answered quietly so only I could hear.
I smiled in relief, leaning into his gentle touch without caring if there were eyes on us. Jotaro didn't hold me for long, though. He quickly guided me to his office, his hand clasping mine as though I'd run away if he didn't have a firm grip on me.
Once the door was closed, his arms wrapped around my tiny figure, surrounding me with his warmth as he embraced me. I held him tightly too, though my hands were barely able to reach his back. It was a happy moment, and I knew he was just trying to warm my chilled spirit from the encounter I'd just had.
I liked hugs... I felt like a puddle of happiness, already melted into his arms and humming in delight.
"We'll be wed on Sunday," He suddenly said. His words didn't even surprise me. I just giggled quietly before nodding, leaning into his gentle embrace even more.
"Alright."
-
"Shopping?" I questioned, my brow raised in confusion as Jotaro's driver drove, not home, but to an unknown store that Jotaro had sent me to.
"Yes, Little Miss," She smiled a bit, looking at my bewildered expression through the rear-view mirror. "You'll pick a dress for your wedding today."
"Oh!" I gasped, leaning forward in my seat, my confused expression now replaced by sheer excitement. "Can I pick one with flowers? I really like flowers!"
She laughed slightly, a sound I'd never heard come from her before. It was quite refreshing. "Miss can pick any dress she wants. There are no limits," She explained.
"No limits?!" I gasped again. Of course, I wouldn't pick anything that was a million dollars, but wasn't Jotaro trusting me too much?
"Ah, but he did instruct me to get his approval before making any decisions," She added. "Little Miss, do you-"
"U-Um... why do you keep calling me that?" I asked hesitantly.
"Because Miss is very little," She explained bluntly. I sat back in my seat with a small pout. Was Mrs. Matsuda right all along...?
The shop was so luxurious in itself, the many dresses on display beautiful and elegant with their exquisite designs. Most dresses were the traditional white color, but a few held pale hues of blue and red.
I gazed in awe at the beautiful gowns, scanning my eyes across the room until one caught my eye. The skirt spilled to the floor like a clear waterfall. The white cherry blossoms flowed down the stream of fabric and puddled on the ground like a peaceful pond. The waistline fit perfectly around the body of the mannequin, and the sleeves seemed so delicate as they drooped and wrapped around its thin arms. The top wasn't form-fitting but was elegant like a gentle breeze.
"Miss, are you ready to look around?" The driver suddenly asked, looking at me from a short distance as I continued to look at the magical gown before me.
"What about that one?" I asked, looking at her with a bright smile. "Can I choose that one?"
