The next few days were wonderful, to say the least. Wedding preparations were scarce due to my husband-to-be's excellent management. I was extremely grateful, of course. Especially because I hadn't realized how tiring being pregnant actually was. I felt as though Mrs. Matsuda betrayed me somewhat for not warning me about it. But I would forgive her quite easily.
"Y/n?" Jotaro suddenly looked at me with wide eyes as we ate dinner Friday evening. "Are you not hungry? Do you feel unwell?"
"Ah..." I mumbled, only then realizing I'd been pushing my rice around in my bowl. "I guess I don't have much of an appetite."
His eyes returned to their usual emotionless state as he returned to eating his own dinner.
"I see. Make sure to eat, though. Even if it's just a little," He said, stuffing his mouth with fish as soon as he finished his sentence. He didn't bother swallowing before continuing. "Neither of us has eaten anything before this. You were complaining about how hungry you were just an hour ago. You're not starving anymore?"
I looked from him to my food in wonder. He was right. I was feeling so empty not long before then, but I didn't find any interest in food at that moment.
"But we ate both breakfast and lunch." I decided to change the subject, placing a small bit of food into my mouth.
"Did we?" He mumbled, shoving more food into his bottomless pit.
I nodded slowly before taking another bite.
"Hey, Jotaro," I began, placing my chopsticks to the side. "Are you... nervous about Sunday?"
He shook his head without hesitation. "No. I've been waiting for this day for a while now." He smiled softly, reaching his hand over and taking mine, squeezing it gently.
"Has it really been that long?" I asked, looking back at the time we'd spent together after the... incident.
He nodded. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"
"I guess. I feel like I've only met you a few weeks ago," I lowered my gaze to my half-empty bowl. "Yet I also feel like I've known you my whole life."
"Good grief," He grumbled. I looked up at him with dark red cheeks, my eyes fuming from the comment.
"What?" I pouted, snapping my hand away from his.
"Such a cheesy line could come from my Omega's mouth?" He chuckled.
"It's true, you know."
"I know," He sighed. Looking into my sparkling e/c orbs with a calming gaze. "It's such a weird thing to say... but I understand it. I completely understand it."
Our eyes met for a long, silent moment. The air was still. The world was ours. At that moment, I knew, this Alpha- No. This man, waiting for my hand to return to his... I was horribly in love with him.
