"Having second thoughts?" Jotaro suddenly asked as I sat in his office, rocking back and forth in wonder.
I smiled at him, but he gave me an indifferent expression. Though, I didn't mind.
"No," I huffed, plopping my head against the couch. "I'm so happy. But... Jotaro."
"Yeah?" He responded, looking at a piece of paper on his desk as he listened.
"Did you plan everything alone?" I asked, suddenly beginning to panic. "I know it's always a hassle getting weddings together, so-"
"There's no need to worry," He interrupted. "My mother insisted on keeping you away from the preparations, but we weren't short-handed in the slightest."
"What about guests a-and-"
"Your friend... Yoshida Sasaki helped with things like that on your behalf," He explained. "She was willing. She volunteered." He paused for a moment, seeming to recollect something at that very moment. "Will Yoshida be your bridesmaid?" He asked, momentarily letting his eyes find me, rather than the papers on his desk.
I nodded. "Who else but Sasaki?" I asked with a smile. "She'll look really pretty in a dress, I'll bet. I've never seen her in one before."
"I see," He murmured before returning to his desk. Some would find his actions cold and uninteresting, but I didn't see it that way at all.
For one, his focused expression as he worked was a rare sight to see. He was handsome, of course, so I wanted to see all kinds of expressions on his face. Happy ones, sad ones, mad ones, neutral ones... lewd ones. All of them.
"Ah," He began again, this time not looking up from his paper, but motioning my eyes to the door without much interest. "I'd forgotten to mention, but my mother would like to speak with you. She's arrived, so you two can head out."
I stood excitedly, my smile much wider as my heart began to pound. "Mrs. Kujo?" I asked, nearly jumping from my pure joy. He looked at me then with slightly scrunched brows as a knock on the door filled the room.
I turned quickly, staring straight ahead with wide eyes. My heart pounded, my palms were sweaty, and I found myself checking my appearance thoroughly as I slowly made my way to the door. I knew what kind of person Mrs. Kujo was, but I still needed to be my best self while around her. No matter what.
"Y/n!!" She exclaimed, wrapping her arms around me and squeezing me into a tight embrace as soon as the door had opened. I gasped, my body stiff as she pushed my head against her chest soothingly. "Are you alright walking around like this?" She suddenly asked, gently stroking my hair as a mother would to her child. "Are you tired? You must be! Jotaro can be a lot of work, right? Don't worry, it'll be alright. We should get you some rest, though. Tomorrow's a big day."
She finally released me from her hug but kept her hands tightly wrapped around my arms as she examined me.
"He hasn't made you do any work, right?" She asked, both her head and eyes moving to look at every inch of my being. "I made sure he didn't! I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you! Oh, my," Her eyes suddenly stopped on a specific spot on me. "I can hear their heartbeat," She gasped.
I followed her gaze to my stomach, a place that looked so unspecial but grew a whole new human deep inside.
Mrs. Kujo held out her hand, gently placing it on my stomach and nearly jumping as she felt it. "Y/n," She began, her voice soft as she placed her hand back down. "I don't believe I've said this yet, but," She looked up at me with a bright smile, her warm and pleasant presence giving me an odd feeling. "Welcome to the family."
It gave me the feeling of a home.
