"We didn't have sex that night!" I objected, finding it necessary to defend myself, rather than let it be that she'd insulted me.
Her brow raised once again. "You didn't? Then why would-"
"Maybe," I huffed, standing from my seat whilst avoiding her eyes. "You shouldn't say something so surely when you know nothing about the situation, Sasaki."
If I could smell her well enough, I was sure I would be able to smell nothing but fury, but I didn't stay long enough to find out if my guess was correct. I left the room, slamming the door as I stomped, grinding my teeth as I thought of her arrogant expression.
That wasn't the Sasaki I knew.
"Y/n?!" Mama suddenly yelled, jumping up from the bench she sat on as she saw me stomping down a sidewalk. "Where on Earth are you going?"
Truthfully, I hadn't known myself. But could I tell her that? I was in such a sour mood, I meant to lie to her... but I couldn't.
"I'm lost," I admitted, my brows still furrowed in rage. "I'd like you to help me with the rest of my dressing, though. Sasaki can go home, for all I care."
"Goodness," Mama sighed, placing her hand on my shoulder and guiding me to sit on her bench. "Please, rest your brows. You'll crinkle your face if you keep that up."
"My face cannot crinkle."
"It will," She insisted, her warm eyes looking into mine so cold yet like a raging fire.
"What's gotten you like this?" She asked softly, her hands gently stroking my hair as she patiently awaited my answer.
I took a deep breath, trying my hardest to rest my forehead, but it was no use. "Sasaki," I admitted. "She said..." I hesitated. It was a horrible thing she said. So enraging.
"She said Jotaro thought this would be like marrying his own little sister," I finally let out, my teeth grinding again in remembrance. "She said I was too dense. That that night we were drunk, so my getting pregnant was purely an accident he'd wanted to prevent. But she didn't know we didn't have sex the night we were drunk!" I'd nearly yelled every word, feeling my body tremble as I kept myself from punching something. I'd never felt such a thing before.
Ever.
"Oh, my," Mama gasped. I found it annoying that it was the only thing she had to say, for her long pause indicated as much. But why was I getting angry at her then? Was I just so blinded by fury that I didn't care who I took it out on?
If such was the case, I had to calm down.
"I'm sorry," I sighed. "I'm so annoyed. So frustrated."
She suddenly smiled, a small chuckle escaping as she did so. I turned to her, my eyes wide in disbelief. She was laughing at me?
"Oh, I'm sorry," She apologized, her hand dropping from her hair to her mouth in embarrassment. "You just love him so much, don't you?"
"What...?"
"Sasaki would never say such a thing. You should know that well, Y/n," She said. "I believe I know who's responsible for this."
I raised a brow, the scrunch in my forehead finally disappearing as I was now in utter confusion. "Responsible...?"
"You see, my father was invited to this wedding," She sighed. "He's... a jolly man, but he can be a bit much at times."
"Your father is responsible for this?" I asked in disbelief.
"Whaaaaat?" I suddenly heard an old man sigh from behind me, and I nearly jumped from my skin in surprise, jolting my head in his direction. "You figured me out so quickly. That's no fun at all."
He was an old, old man. I wondered if he would be okay crouched on the ground without any support for standing back up. But... he was the prankster?
