Rooster's POV
I stare at Jake and Justin says "so, all of you are Naval Aviators?" I say "yeah" and he says "that is so cool, do they ask you to go to Top Gun or do you apply?" Jake says "they asked either our Navy officers or our head of operations depending on where we were then they told us were going here instead of going anywhere else or going home." Phoenix says "I was literally about to go home. Pissed me off but I made pretty friends" pinching Jakes cheek and we laugh as he glares at the wall. I laugh at him saying "stop glaring at the wall" us all laughing. The waitress comes over saying "what can I get for everyone for food?" We order and she says "I heard you guys were Naval Aviators and I go off to flight school in a couple weeks. I was wondering if you guys had any advice?" Phoenix says "girlfriend, pull up a chair. We have plenty of advice to go around" and she comes to sit down at the end of the table. I say "showers are communal or non existent so plan accordingly" and we chuckle. Phoenix says "buy pads and tampons off base, easily ten bucks cheaper." Jake says "as a lieutenant, you will be sharing a room. Try to get along with your roommate or it sucks." I say "do I hear irony?" He flips me off and I chuckle saying "do what you're told, don't try to revolutionize anything unless something really needs to happen. Just do as you're told and learn the rules and you'll rise the ranks no problem." Jake says "for people to remember you, remember the enemy knows the handbook too, so you just have to do what your gut tells you to. Also, be sober while flying, its a war crime if you aren't." I say "what did you do?" Jake says "my friend was arrested. He's so fucked" shaking his head and I say "damn. Get to know your plane, you don't want to get up there and not know what you're doing. Awful idea, did that. Almost crashed" us chuckling. I say "bad idea. If you can, try not to fly by yourself on your first time. Its fine if you do, its just easy to used to wearing the mask and everything while in the plane and just new experiences." Phoenix says "don't buy birth control on any base. Its awkward cause they will give you a look and its super expensive. Like plan b expensive" and she chuckles saying "noted. Thank you, guys" and I say "best of luck" smiling and she goes to the back. I say "she was sweet" and Jake winks at me and I smile back. We all talk for awhile, get our food, and we go back to base. Jake says "are we moving too fast?" I say "I don't think so, why?" He says "I don't know, just makes me nervous that we might be going too fast then it might all go to shit" quietly. We get to our room and I kiss him mumbling "I'm sleeping, we have to get up tomorrow. Don't worry about it, baby. I love you" and he kisses me saying "I love you too" and he cuddles into me making me smile. I rub his back as we drift off.
The next day
I get right up saying "come on, baby, we gotta get going." Jake mumbles "you get up first" and I mumble "I'm trying, get off of me" sitting up after he moves slightly. I say "come on, babe" getting dressed and he tiredly mumbles "want to get married?" I say "you are so tired" dragging his ass out of bed. He stands up before hitting the floor and he gets dressed and does his hair and all those things. We go into class and I say "how was your date, Pete?" Maverick says "it was good" smirking and Jake says "someone got laid" quietly and I hit him upside the head and he slaps my ass. I flip him off, sitting in my seat and he sits down in his. He winks at me and everyone eventually comes in. We get more practice in for this mission all day then when we go back to the classroom, we hear heels clicking down the hallway. I say "shit" quietly us all standing up out of muscle response. Mrs. Charlie Blackwood. She walks in saying "I'm here just to wish you all a good trip on your new mission! I hope you all have improved greatly since I've been here." Pete says "wait, I thought you retired. How the hell did you get in here?" She says "you really think I would retire?" He says "well, I don't know you anymore. Its kind of been twenty years since I've seen you." I say "guys, not now. You don't hate each other. You're old, stop acting like children" sitting down and the rest of them follow suit. Charlie says "I hope you all had a great time here at Top Gun. Good job, you all are going to graduate I hope" smiling and Pete says "you all are dismissed." Charlie says "where's my hug? Get over here" and I chuckle, going over to hug her. Jake stands at the door, waiting for me, and I say "we'll have to catch up at some point but I have some things to do." Pete says "literally what things?" I say "things" shrugging as I gesture to Jake and he flips me off. We laugh and I say "kidding" and we go back to our rooms. Jake says "want to go to Rome?" We lay on his bed and I say "why? Tell the Vatican that were fucking? Sure, why not" and we chuckle. I say "I'm gonna wash the sheets on your bed, go lay on my bed" slapping his ass and he slowly moves to my bed. I strip the bed and he says "do we want an apartment or like a house or what?" I say "I think the first question is, where do we want to move to?" He says "well, if were wanting to work here, probably no more than half an hour away" looking at me. I pull sheets off the bed and pillow cases off the pillows. I say "well, tell me what that has to offer then" smiling at him and he says "ok" and he grabs his laptop and starts looking.
