Chapter 16: innocent yet proven guilty

*phone rings*

I slip my hands under my pillow with my eyes half closed reaching for my cellphone. This better be important cause I swear if this person is calling for something stupid I will sure ruin his or her day before it even starts.

I answer without checking the called ID in my tired and groggy morning voice.

"Milonke its me Lwando. I need your help"

I open my eyes and sat up rubbing my eyes.

"What is it?"

"Its Ndumiso,he got in an accident yesterday and he got arrested"

"Lwando what are you saying?"

"Listen I can't  explain everything right now but he called me and asked me to not tell anyone about this but I'm sure he would be happy to see you"

"Where are you now and where is he being held?"

"I'm on my way to him,he is at Clardon Police station"

"Okey thank you for informing me"

"Sure"

I quickly got out of bed and headed to take a quick shower. After a few minutes I was done and got dressed in my formal high waisted pants,black turtle neck and a black knee lengthed coat to finish my look. I wore my black high heeled ankle boots for shoes and there's absolutely no time for weave so I sprayed my short hair and grab my bags making my way out.

I arrived at 07:42 sharp and found Lwando sitted,waiting on the wooden benches.

"Have you seen him?"I ask sitting next to him,he shakes his head looking relieved to see me.

"What are they saying?"I question looking around.

"I've been waiting here since 07:00 and they told me to wait till 08:00 am" he informs looking exhausted.

"What is Ndumiso's surname?"

"Mkani"Lwando informs,I stood up walking to the reception desk.

"Good morning sir. I'm Advocate Ndilika and I'm here to see a client of mine Ndumiso Mkani. He was held in yesterday"

"Good morning to you too ma'am, please follow me" I nod and followed behind as he lead the way.

I followed him to the interrogation room.

I sat there and he left to get Ndumiso from his cell. I took out my diary and notebook, after a few minutes Ndumiso appeared followed by the policeman. He stopped at the door and shook his head turning to go back.

"Listen Ndumiso please don't leave I'm here as a lawyer. I'm here to help"

"I don't need your help. Tell Lwando to get me our family lawyer"

"NDUMISO!"I called out as he walked out,he slowly turned to look at me. "Please allow me to fix this"I whisper with tears threatening my eyes.

"Milonke you don't understand, you can't fix this. Just give me some space"he  walked away.

I guess I did it again then. I let a man in my life only to be left disappointed and hurt once again. I thought I was careful this time around but love once again proved to be a ticking time bomb. 

I took my belongings and walked out of the room not even waiting for the policeman to escort me. I found Lwando still waiting in the reception,he stands up as soon as he see's me approach.

"How did it go, are they going to release him?"

"He says I...I should ask you to call the family lawyer"
