Chapter 30

A sharp knock on my door forces me to wake up from my much needed sleep. I sat up and searched for my phone to check the time. It reported 00:54am. I stood up wearing my slippers and rushed to open the door cussing under my breath I swear I'm killing whoever on the other side of this door.

"Ulibele kulala kodwa kubi(you busy sleeping when things are bad out there)"Andile says walking past me. I switched on the lights and furrowed my eyebrows,thinning my eyes as the brightness of the light strained the fuck out of my eyes.

"Andile calm down and tell me what the hell is going on"I calmly ask rubbing my eye.

"Oh gosh..."he takes a deep breath facing up. "I think you need to sit down for these news"he says walking over to me to grab my hand,he leads me to sit down on the couch.

"Andile you starting to scare me what's going on?"

"No...its Zwelethu...there was a body found burnt beyond recognition in front of his house and its him well thats at least what I read on Social media"

I widen my eyes. "When did this happen?"

"A few hours ago and its all over the Internet. The worst part is his wife is three months pregnant. Its really heartbreaking I just can't imagine the trauma his family is going through right now"

I could feel my heart dropping to my abdomen. Could it be really Ndumiso who caused this accident after I asked him to make sure that he doesn't die? If its him then that means I killed Zwelethu,its my fault...right? I mean it didnt have to get to this.Is Ndumiso even capable of doing this.

"Milonke...Milonke"he snaps his fingers.

I quickly turned to look at him,startled. "Huh?"

"Are you okay?"

I nod vigorously. "I'm fine I just need some time alone please"

"I understand chomi and please if you need anything I'm a knock or a phone call away"

I stand up to walk him out. "I'll keep that in mind"

He stands up and hugs me. "Are you sure you going to be fine alone?

"Yes don't worry"he nods patting my shoulder before leaving. I let out a heavy breath as soon as I heard the door shut, I hurried to get my phone. I dialed Ndumiso's number and he answered on the fourth attempt.

"Ndumiso did you do it"

"Do what?"

"Ndumiso are you responsible for what happened to Zwelethu?"

"Yes"

"Ndumiso how could you,after I asked you to make sure he doesn't die"

"If you had told me that he was hitting on you then maybe I wouldn't have killed him"

I went silent feeling my throat dry out. How the hell did he even find out.

"So now you won't say anything?"

"Ndumiso I had told him that I was seeing someone-

"Milonke why didnt you tell me this sooner if it wasn't anything serious?"

"I...I didnt know how to tell you cause I was also confused and shocked by all of this"

"Well now its done and you don't have to worry about him. We going to talk about this when you get back here for now let's avoid talking about it"

"How did you even find out?"

"Oh I wasn't supposed to?"

"You know I don't mean in that way Ndumiso"
