chapter 48

After the disaster of a lunch I had with Tumi and Andile I requested a ride to the beach to clear my mind and just sat there until it got late and windy. The beach just has a way of calming me and giving my mind a break,the sound of the ocean and the fresh smell its just perfect for relaxation.

When it got late I ubered back home and when I got to the apartment I found Khayi sitting alone in the lounge watching Paw Patrol.

"Hey baby girl,how are you"I greeted smiling.

"I'm fine thank you" she says shyly hugging her teddy bear.

I chuckled. "Where's your dad?"

"Upstairs. He doesn't want to take me to granny and I want to go back home to my granny"she says pouting.

"Did he say why?" I ask and immediately heard footsteps descending the stairs.

Ndumiso appeared looking frustrated. I looked at him furrowing my eyebrows.

"Is everything okay?"

"Can you come upstairs so we can talk for a few minutes"

I hesitantly nod. "Sure, I'm right behind you"

He made his way back upstairs and I followed behind him making my way to the bedroom. I closed the door behind me and placed my bag on the bed before sitting down on the edge. 

"I'm listening"

"Where were you? You left the whole day and didn't even think of sending a text or something to tell me you safe?"he snaps looking furious.

I raised my eyebrow looking at him. "I understand your furstration but then whats with all the drama, I mean I'm back and perfectly fine so I dont understand ianger le isukaphi (why you angry)"

"Why do you keep doing this like what is so hard to just send a text to say that you fine,do you know how worried I was, I fucken sent a whole team to go looking for you"

"I'm sorry okay? I needed time to clear my head and I went to the beach. I know I should've called but I just needed some time to myself"

He exhales pinching the corner of his eyes. "Are you feeling better now?"

"Yeah...a little"

"That's good and I don't mind that... I was just worried"he says cupping my face with his hands and planting a kiss on my lips.

"Why didn't you say Khayi is coming over,not that I mind but a little heads up would've been great"

"Well that's another long story. Khayi will be staying with us for a while cause lets just say my mother and I are not in a good space right now"

I looked at him and his eyes looked everywhere around the room except at me.

"Its about me right?"

"Look its not you my mother is like that, she thinks the worst of every woman that I love, I mean she acted the same way with my ex wife at this point I'm used to it"

I roll my eyes at him. "don't sugarcoat it just say it as it is,she doesn't like me"

"I don't care, I do and that's what matters. I know her and she is trying to control and dictate my life as usual,she is upset because she cant control you like all my other girlfriends and I'm fed up with her and her tricks"he says taking my hands in his.

"This whole thing is gonna affect Khayi and the fact that its my fault is worse. I don't want to be the reason why you and Khayi dont have a relationship with her"

"Calm down this is not about you. I told you she is just upset because she cant control me,trust me I know her"

I nod sighing. "Just promise me you'll try to fix things with her. Khayi just told me she misses her and wants to go back home to her,its unfair that she has to caught in the crossfire of something she is not even involved in"
