Back with Caroline, Ellie, Elena, Bonnie, and Matt...

Caroline cuts them a piece of cake.

"Give me." Ellie said, holding her hand out.

Caroline smiled and placed a paper plate in her hand.

"Which also reminds me. Give it." Ellie mumbled, taking the bottle of wine from Matt's hand.

Ellie poured some into a glass before handing it back to Matt.

"I need it more than you do. Trust me."

Elena saw Caroline pull out her phone

Elena saw Caroline pull out her phone.

"Caroline, what are you doing?" Elena asked.

"Huh? Hmm? Nothing." Caroline says.

"Okay, you're a terrible liar, sober. You're an even worse liar when you're drunk." Ellie said.

"I might have texted Tyler." Said Caroline.

"Caroline." Ellie says.

"What? I'm delicate." Caroline says.

"Ellie, give her a break. You can't control what everyone does all the time." Bonnie says.

Everyone looked at Bonnie.

"Wow." Ellie says.

"Ouch, Bon." Said Matt.

"I'm sorry. I know it's Caroline's birthday, funeral, or whatever... but I just feel it's really wrong that you compelled Jeremy to leave town." Bonnie said.

"Bon, it wasn't Ellie's decision. It was mine. But we're doing it to protect him. I want to give him a chance at a halfway normal life." Elena says.

"He should be able to choose how he wants to live it. You're taking his choices away." Said Bonnie.

"Bonnie, you can't tell him." Ellie says.

"Why? You gonna get Stefan or Damon to compel me not to?" Bonnie asked them.

"You know, you guys are ruining a perfectly good funeral."

Ellie and Bonnie looked around them

Ellie and Bonnie looked around them.

"I'm sorry. I'm gonna go sleep it off or something." Bonnie tells them. "Happy birthday."

Back at Lockwood's with Damon and Liz...

"The mayor's looking out for Tyler. We have to assume Klaus has her in his pocket." She says.

"Oh, please don't tell me you're gonna drink the Klaus Kool-Aid."

"I'm not gonna let him hold this town hostage. But I'm also not gonna let innocent people get caught in the crossfire... of a pissing contest between a hybrid and a vampire." She tells him.

"Liz, I'm impressed. You're all strong and sheriff-y."

"I'm not kidding, Damon. Get Stefan to stand down from this one before someone gets hurt." She says.

Somewhere else in the Lockwood house, Meredith was speaking to a guy...

"What are you doing? You're gonna ruin your career."

Ric watched their encounter.

"Says the guy who got his job from his dad." She says.

"You have any idea what you're messing with?"

"I know what I'm doing." She said, going to walk away, but he grabbed her arm.

"Damn it, Meredith..."

"Back off, Brian." She says.

"Whoa, hey. Everything all right here." Ric says.

"Everything's fine."

"Didn't look fine." Said Ric.

"You might wanna get to know her before you become her white knight. She's kind of a psycho case."

Ric chuckled. "You're that guy, aren't you? The one begging to have his teeth kicked in."

"Take it from me, man. Life's too short."

"Just go away, Brian." She says.

He walked away.

"Behold, my senior prom date."

"You definitely should've thrown him over the bridge." He says.

They chuckled.
