Caroline throws Elena and Ellie a party at the Salvatore boarding house for their 18th. Klaus and Stefan learn Damon has been following them, so Stefan returns home and kills Damon's girlfriend, Andie, as a warning.

Ellie is surprised to receive an invitation to a formal ball, and when Damon and Stefan hear the party is being hosted by Klaus' newt renovated mansion, they both insist on attending the event with her. Caroline and Matt also receive invitations to the ball from unexpected admirers. At the elegant party, Ellie learns of a horrifying plan that could lead to numerous deaths and she must decide who she can trust with her new information. Caroline discovers a side of Klaus no one would have suspected. Finally, after an evening of violence and dashed hopes, Damon finds a new way to cope.
Later, Ric was in the hospital, Elena and Ellie walked into the hallway, seeing Matt there...
"How's Mr. Saltzman?" Matt asked.
"Resigned to spending the night in observation. So, long as I promise to change the lock on the house." Ellie said.
"So I talked to Bonnie earlier. She and her mom are fine. Have you talked to Caroline?" Elena asked.
"Yeah. She's holding it together... considering how close she and her dad used to be. Any word on who's behind all these attacks?" Asked Matt.
"No. Sheriff Forbes said that there were "no real suspects at all." Elena tells them.
They walked past a hospital room, and a shadow watched them walk past.
Ellie, Elena, and Matt left the hospital.
"How are you dealing with everything? I mean, you keep getting dragged into all this." Said Ellie.
"Honestly? I'm kind of lucky. The only thing that I have to worry about for tomorrow... is showing up for my shift at the Grill."

Matt walked them towards their car, and Ellie and Elena turned to face him.
"Thank you for everything today. Really. It means a lot." Ellie smiled.
"Just get yourselves home safe." Matt tells them.
"Thanks." Elena smiled.
They watched Matt get into his truck and drive off, and Ellie dug around in her bag for her car keys.
They get into the car, and they put on their seatbelts. She starts the engine and reverses out, and the car jerks like it has hit something.
"What? What the hell did you hit?" Elena asked her.
Ellie shrugged.
"Stay here. And lock the doors." Ellie said, getting out of the car.
She rushed to the back of the car, finding nothing there. She turned around and came face-to-face with Rebekah.
"Drive much?"
"Rebekah." Ellie said.
Rebekah grabbed Ellie and pinned her against the car.
