Elena and Damon set off together to make sure Jeremy is safe in Denver, and to see if his special abilities can help reveal the information they need about ancient vampire bloodlines. It doesn't take them long to learn that Jeremy has been hanging with the wrong people. Stefan and Klaus go to brutal extremes in their search for the missing weapon. Caroline is thrilled when Tyler returns to town, but Tyler soon suspects that something has been going on between Caroline and Klaus. Matt has his hands full trying to keep Rebekah busy organising the school's upcoming 1920s Decade Dance.

She unlocked the cell door and walked in, holding a bag.
"You know you shouldn't be in here. It defeats the whole point of the whole being-locked-in-a-cellar thing."

She placed the bag down in front of him.
"Well, you still need the basics: toothbrush and clothes. Some boring books to help you sleep." She said.
"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?"
"What? No, I grabbed..." She says, grabbing the book. "Damon. He thinks he's hilarious."
"At least one of us has a sense of humour."
"Are you sure you're...? I mean, you don't have to be kept in here." She tells him.
"Uh, no, this is... ah. This is the right place for me to be. At least until you guys can convince my highly uncooperative alter ego... to fess up to where I... or he hid the white oak stake."
"Well, we looked everywhere." She says, scoffing. "You... the other, you hid it well."
"What's Klaus gonna do if you can't find it?"
"It's the only thing that can kill him, so... wage war, murder people. You know, Klaus stuff. Listen, Stefan, and I are gonna watch over you for a little while. Now that Klaus knows where Jeremy is, it's not safe. So... Damon and Elena are gonna go to Denver to pick him up." She said.
"Why are you saying that like you're waiting for my disapproval of Damon and Elena going together?"
"I don't know. Elena and Damon drive across the country."
"I'm more curious to hear what Stefan has to say about you being here."
"It was actually his idea for me to come see you. Stefan and I think they have some unresolved feelings for each other. They just keep denying it." She says.
"Does she?"
"I don't know; maybe that's why she agreed to go." She said.
