✧・゚: *✧・゚:* Radiant's POV *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Just like one of the 7 beings has told me, the King did decide to make me spar with a young mentor. His name is Aidan, a very talented lad, he said. The King, Queen, Prince, Princess, and my Family all walk silently in a long corridor to which I assume is a floating arena at the end of the hall. I am quite nervous about this whole thing. After all, my father never taught me how to fight, I just hope this mentor won't kill me during our first sparring session. Nearing the opening, the suspense finally stops and I am greeted by many onlookers at the side, specifically, they must be Knights and Philosophers of the Castle they all cheer once I step out.
The King pats my back and goes to sit in a big chair in the middle of the onlookers. I can see Blazer is still in suspense so I wave at the crowd and show my best smile to which Blazer sighs with relief. I look towards my foe. It seems like he's...
A Dragon?! Hard to tell because of the fur mane, but the horns are a dead giveaway. My fur stands on edge. "Ladies and Gentlemen! We are here today for a friendly spar between our best mentor, against, Radiant the Prodigy Astral!" A roar of cheers and claps can be heard from the Knights but, the philosophers don't seem interested in cheering along. "The rules are simple! Survive at the last second!" The cheering stops as suspense kicks in, "Ready your weapons!" What?! I wasn't told I need one! I ran to a rack of weapons while everybody stares at me, I pick up a short sword and swing it a few times.
"Oof... I'm out of shape." My arms already felt sore just swinging this thing, I can tell I heard snickers at the onlookers I shout, "Sorry for the inconvenience people!" And smile as I ran back to my standpoint.
Everyone laughs, and now I feel confident. "Okay! Now that that's done, ready?" and in unison, everyone shouts,
"BRAWL!"
The dragon swiftly lunges forward and I barely dodged away. "Amil Zixamae..." I barely hear his incantation before I got struck on my dominant arm with an Air Strike spell. The sword I held fell to the ground as my right limb surged in pain.
"Urk!" I muster my strength to cast a healing spell. I raise my hand forward, beads of sweat trekking down my forehead as I seem to be fainting and waking up too many times. "Heal the wounds that will scar, to continue onwards to light." My limp arm lights up, "Salinas: Yem Wumay!" A surge of vitality enters my body and I quickly reached for my sword and parry his next attack.
He blew fire on my face but, it was deflected by my light healing spell. "Impressive." The philosophers seem to nod at my skills. But, no distractions nor dwelling, my life is on the line.
I threw my sword at the dragon to hopefully stall enough time to cast this spell. "Stops those who I command," Aidan deflects my sword and runs at full speed towards me. "Allure: Wumex!" Without delay, he halts mid-air with his sword raised ready to strike. I wipe my forehead, I was intentionally trying to sweat to do this. "Let those who are hostile hear my call of pacify!"
I surround Aiden with the small amount of sweat I collected and said the last words,
"Torga: Humsifisaxima!"
That's like a tongue twister of a word for a spell, well, I guess that's expected cause it's an advanced spell. I release him from the halt spell. And he drops his longsword and crouches down to bow to me. "I concede, defeat!" The crowd applauds our fight. Aiden gets up and raises my hand in the air he takes this moment to whisper to me. "Just remember that you can't always use that spell, not everyone is affected by any control magic but, that alone means that I can trust you to be just and kind. We'll meet again tomorrow, we need to train this whole week for the coming Dusk." He lets go of my hand and flies towards the King and he appeared to address him about what he thinks of me. And the King looks at me after the exchange and smiles.
"Well done young prodigy!" Everyone congratulates me and after that, I can finally talk to my family.
"That was a great fight son." Papa pets me. And I worry that Ragire saw the gruesome state I was in when I was struck by Aiden's spell. But, it seems like he didn't. He is still looking at Lustre while he's being carried. When will this little goober hit his growth spurt? I chuckle.
"What's so funny?" Lustre says with a flushed face.
"He likes you very much huh." Hannah says, "And I think you do too." And I thought Lustre's face couldn't get any redder.
"He's only nine! Shut up!" We laugh.
"He may look young but, I don't think that will stop Ragire from loving you." Blazer remarks.
Ragire being cute scratches Lustre's chin. "Big Kitty!~" Lustre purrs.
"Stop!!" We laugh much more loudly this time. This is nice.
"As much as I want to keep seeing my boy flustered, we must show you, where you're staying. I'm sure Radiant is exhausted." They all look at me.
"U-umm, not really." Their maws agape. "I-I mean, I am very tired! Wooohhh!" I awkwardly laugh.
The Queen clears her throat in amusement, "I am impressed you can be joyful even during a fight, we need more people with your kind of enthusiasm." I scratch the back of my head. "Well, let's move on then."
Queen Nora showed us around the castle, we ran into Cade holding a stack of papers and walking into what the Queen calls the research facility. Of everything that we have seen, what I liked the most is the garden. It's huge and had a lot of blooming flowers and the sunlight from above is visible. I'm sure the sky is nice here at Dusk maybe, I will make that a habit. I want to see the Pillars of Creation. It's visible everywhere and this is a high place with windows too so I'm sure I can get a good look at it.
Mama... Are you proud of me? Then suddenly I hear a voice, it's a woman's.
"Child..."
