Chapter 37 - Everything against Nothing (2)

I feel... enraged. Surrounded by allies and enemies, still, I'm furious. I look up in the dark sky. "For every good anyone gives, the darkness takes." I look down at my hands, filled with the dust that was once my friends.

I scream my lungs out.

-Moments Ago-

"We're under attack!" Cade hurriedly sounds the horn. It blares, alerting every troop.

"How did they get past the Kingdom?"

"They didn't." I point towards the forests. "They slithered their way from the sides of the walls."

"Men! Man your stations!"

I look up to the Pillars of Creation. They shimmer but, are unmoving. "Cade."

"On it." He points cords that connect to a piece of machinery towards the clouds that the Pillars emit. "Activate!" It starts sucking the powers of all elements. "Ragire, care to fire these Darkness up?"

"You got it!" He aims and shoots a concentrated laser at a group of Darkness and they howl as they immediately disintegrate. "Take that!"

"You guys take care of support, I'm gonna go man the frontlines."

"Blazer!" I look back at Cade. "Be safe."

I smile at him and run down the hill. Although time magic doesn't work, I have to be careful.

As I neared the frontlines, I noticed that our soldiers were getting pushed back, by the masses. But with the support fire, they are barely managing.

I swiftly roll and lunge, as I strike a Darkness with my rapier. This is a weapon that is engraved with light magic. The Darkness I stabbed, screeches, and explodes in white light.

"Sir Blazer! I'm glad to fight with you."

"Likewise, Luitenant." An enemy sneaks behind him, "Watch out!"

"Feront: Feyade Amula!" He roars, and he's suddenly engulfed in flames that gives him time to attack the sneaking Darkness. "Rah!"

"Nice moves." I duck down right in time before a beam from on top of the hill, hits the enemies behind me.

"That was a close call!" The husky runs up to me and we have our backs against each other. "But, what shall we do now? It will be a while before the Kingdom notices."

"Then we hold off until th-"

"Can you really?" I tighten my grip on my rapier upon hearing its voice. "What's wrong? You're trembling young man."

"Gh- Arthur.." I can't move. The husky is completely frozen behind me.

"Am I really that scary? Oh well." He closes the distance between us at an unbearable speed. "Time to die then." He raises his arm.

"HEY! PICK SOMEBODY YOUR OWN SIZE!" The turret shoots completely depleting his whole arm. But he didn't flinch.

"You should have aimed for the head." With his other arm he..-

I don't know what came first... "N-NO!!!!!!!" Was it rage? Or did my tears fall first?

It's too much... "I'LL KILL YOU!" I couldn't hold it in so I just let it out.

Numtal: Lamemaze..

I'm sorry, I couldn't even save you, Blazer. You were always with me, always complimenting my work. Were those all true? I hope they are, they made me happy.

This is my sacrifice for you.

I ran up to Ragire and took us as far away as I could from Cade. I don't know what's happening but, I can sense a really powerful energy coming from Cade.

"N-no... Brother." I cover Ragire's eyes and hug him close.

"Stay with me, Little one.." I found a place to hide just in time before something bizarre appeared where Cade stood. It's indescribable. "What is that..?"

Tendrils come out of the feral. It has shimmering scales, with horns. It lets out a light beam from its maw, blinding me and Ragire.

I erected a stone barrier to shield us from it. At that moment Ragire shouted his brother's name, "Blazer! Blazer!!" I hug him tighter, afraid that he would let go of my hands and he would never come back again.

A loud screeching sound was heard, which drowned out every sound. It was that feral's doing, it was fighting against Arthur. My ears are ringing, did I even cover my ears? Wait, where's... "RAGIRE!"

I peeked out of my hiding place, but I was too late... Arthur's standing on top of his body. I also see Cade where the feral was once there. He's also unconscious...

Once I regain my hearing Arthur starts talking, "Poor thing, he just wanted to see his brother but the feral clawed at him." He clicks his tongue, "But don't worry, I already killed the feral." He starts walking towards the Pillars of Creation.

I ran up to, Ragire's body... "ragire... wake up, please." I hug him close.

"It's no use, that feral was modified-"

"SHUT UP!!"

"Oh?" I got up and aimed my shield towards him. "What's that gonna do, Young Prince?"

Breathing heavily, sweat dripping, wind harshly flowing. "Quite yapping and fight me." I opened my eyes and took off my eyeglasses.

"As you wish." He turns into a shadow, with heightened hearing, I turned around just in time to meet his cursed sword. "Not bad. I might just entertain you for a bit."

We clashed shield and sword but, in the end, I was only buying time. And I finally met my demise, as he sent my shield flying. With one final slash to my torso, I fall alongside my friends, and my lover, Ragire... Radiant, save us.

Mom... I cradled her in my arms. "I'll avenge you, I promise." I lay her back down.

"I'm sorry for your loss." I wipe away tears.

"No time for grieving." I pull out my sword. "It's time for slaughter."
