Chapter 16 - Cursed

Radiant is still unconscious and drifting as I have heard...

I have tried to heal him as well. With no effect, the Priest had given the results of his consultation with Radiant's status. 'It's a supernova curse.' He explained that in about 3 months from now, Radiant's body will wipe out the whole Nomara. He cannot be moved from his resting place for it speeds up the effect of the curse.

"What are we going to do...?" Blazer is pacing back and forth, biting his finger anxiously. My water spell briefly, comes off before I urge the water to let me see again. "We must be able to do something..." He is panicking, "Allure: Femam-zem!" A black blob of darkness is projected on a near wall by Blazer. It seems like he is trying to foresee Radiant's possible future.

The spell wears off without showing a single image. It's just... Dark.

"DAMN IT ALL!" He punches the table, I can tell he was holding back even if he's upset. I'm sure his fists would have come through the table easily by now.

Jamis seems to be so deep in thought that he dozed off. Or the situation is too much for him and he just deactivated.

Ragire is being comforted by my brother and me. He sobbingly asks, "Will my brother ever wake up..?" Lustre and I look at each other and we force a smile.

"We will do whatever we can to wake him up." I pet his head. And I wipe the snot in his snout.

"Radiant..." We suddenly hear Jamis talk, it's so sudden that it's scary. "I think I have a way to cure his curse." He gets up and just leaves through the door, while we stare at it not knowing if we should follow or not.

Being the Princess I am more needed here than out there, to not create chaos and to protect Radiant's resting place. Because Creatures sometimes can be stupid and they may plan to raid his resting place and gets us all in grave danger.

"Brother, I must go." Lustre nods.

I get up and leave to visit my Father.

Salinas had been more silent and distant lately, I wonder what's going on?

I walk through the halls straight to the scrying well. And there she is, weeping. "Salinas? What's wrong?"

Her sobbing stops and she turns her back on me and wipes her tears. "Y-yes? Do you need something Numtal? Is it another fallen Astral we need to send o-or-or-"

"Salinas, I can tell that something is bothering you. Tell me." I walk right next to her and look at the scrying well and saw it... "Oh... Sour Times-"

I put a paw over my snout. If I'm not mistaken - "Yes that is my child..." Radiant is glowing and slowly dissipating.

"That mark is..."

"A curse." Salinas finishes my sentence, "and a curse that I cannot cure." I look at my sad friend.

"I can help you." I put a reassuring pat on her shoulders. "I just need something from you."

"I will give you anything! Just please, save my child!" She kneels in front of me, grasping my paws.

"I only have one request."

"What is it?"

Oh goodness, this is much harder than I expected. "Iwantyoutobemyfriend-" I look away anticipating a no.

She chuckles and then it turns into laughter, "Of course, I'll be your friend Numtal, Ahahah~"

"Aww. I knew it you don't want to- wait what?" I tilt my head.

"Yes, Numtal, I can be your friend, but are you sure that's your real request?"

Like a five-year-old getting told by his mom that he can eat chocolate, I squeal. "My very first friend!" I hug her and she hugs back.

"So that's your request huh?" I break off from the hug and nod. "So you're going to help my son?"

"Of course, either way, friends or not, I would help you."

We hear the tapping of claws in the hallway and we both look to see who it was. "Jamis?"

The out-of-breath rat, responds, "You're... Hah... Our only hope... Hah... Divine of Creation."

"I was actually, getting to that." I smile and put my paw down and urge Jamis to get on. "Now let's not dally any further, we just need to get to my station."

We walk by several rooms and go up from stair to stair and we finally made it. "Welcome to my Creativity Station." Jamis is unamused but at least Salinas claps her hands. "Thank you, now where have I put it. Aha!" I grab my special ladle and put Jamis down on a table next to my cauldron.

"I have never seen your station before. It's full of ingredients and trinkets."

I puff my chest proudly, "I can't be the Divine of Creation if I did not gather ingredients." Even though, I just created those ingredients myself. "Very well, I'll start the potion-making."

I lit a fire under my cauldron and waited for the water to bubble. "Stardust, a very important ingredient for making special quality potions." Salinas watches mesmerized while Jamis seems to be keeping himself patient.

"A speck of essence of life. For the potion to grant its consumer good health." I stir the contents slowly with precision. Jamis, not waiting any longer decides to use Time magic to speed up my head. "Jamis, what are you doing!!" The contents of the pot explode all over the place...

I look at him angrily, "I-I'm sorry, it's just... Radiant is in so much pain right now. I-" I drop the ladle loudly.

"Can I give you some advice, Jamis?" He nods rather shakily.

Still covered in the goo, I lectured him. "Healing something takes time, it could be a minute, an hour, or forever to even heal something. You should be grateful that potion making is easy for me and I know what I am doing, and I am doing everything with purpose, and as you can see, when you interrupt someone's healing because you want them back so bad, see what happens?"

"I-It makes the healing longer."

"Correct, and?" I await him to realize his mistakes, the longer he takes the more time Radiant will lose, this is his fault if he wants him back now he needs to answer me.

"You can destroy something in a few seconds..." He looks down defeated, but I am impressed. I guess he knew it from the very start.

"Very good. Now no more interruptions."

I start over.
