"What is that?" I say as I look out the window, darkness envelops the bright sky, in the distance, there are swift and slow movements of... "Shadows?"

Cade peeks over my shoulder, we're at the research facility, and I was helping him create a prototype of what he calls plasma essence. As we stare at the looming darkness, the artificial lights went out, as well as street lamps. Soon screaming is heard and a bell can be heard tolling. "No... No way..."

I look at Cade, "What's happening?" He looks back at me slowly with terror in his eyes, though I stay calm and grasp his paws.

"The darkness... They're here." As soon as he said that, the door to the facility opens and Cade's mentor comes running in, not paying single attention to us as he thrashes the place finding something. "C-can I help you, Sir?" His Mentor looks at us with his tired eyes and replies.

"Help me find a substance called Liquid Nitrogen and Pure Water... Hurry!" We quickly start looking around for the label he is referring to.

"Ah!" I can see Cade holding his right wrist while his right paw seems to be frozen.

"C-cade!" I hurriedly held his paw, "Allure: Lamumap." It quickly de-freezes.

"T-thanks, Blaze." He looks over my shoulder and I follow his gaze. "Mentor... I did not know you had such a substance, what are you going to do with it?" He does not respond and he continues his work assembling something. This wolf sure knows how to infuriate me, first, he made us find some unknown substance, and second, he did not even warn us that the substance can freeze someone lethally!

I get up and pull Cade up with me, a Knight comes through the door panting. "S-sir! You must evacuate immediately! Nomara is under attack!" The wolf only responds with a shot from the substance, he shot out of the window...

"Can I know where you evacuate Astrals and Creatures?" He nods.

"Yes, sure, just follow me. Sir! We need to leave!" The stubborn mentor only replies.

"I'm not leaving my research, I have spent my life trying to figure things out with the power that was given to me. If you leave, leave now, the darkness is fast approaching." The Knight hesitates and then gestures for us to follow. We ran down the hall and the stair through the gardens and then straight to an underground bunker.

"You two are safe here with the others, I will find more civilians to take back." He runs off again before I could thank him.

"Let's find my brothers." Cade nods and we continue with the long tunnel, the creatures get more and more crowded the further you go in, but, I do not see my brothers... "They are not here..." This makes me worry, where are they now?

✧・゚: *✧・゚:* Radiant's POV *:・゚✧*:・゚✧

The King and I have headed through the front gate to intercept the darkness, with a few Cavalry Knights beside us. "We may be doomed but, we shall die fighting for the lives of our loved ones!" A mighty roar of cheer came from the Knights, some priests and nuns have positioned themselves at the top of the gate readying to cast a Salinas spell, Ipizigiemuelaxima. It's a very long incantation even if there are a thousand professional Salinas Astrals. And it takes a lot of Faith to cast if one creature tries to use this spell, he/she might not even get the first sentence of the incantation done before it takes his/her life force. "We stand our ground! We only need enough time for our Priests to cast an incantation!"

A loud and piercing screech bellows in the distance as well as the wooshing of wind as the darkness travels through it. It had turned darker and darker until I can no longer see anything. "Enlighten the dark! Salinas: Yemewe!" As the light orb, lit my surroundings, the Knights are no longer next to me, It was quiet... Too quiet... I threw my voice in the dark, "King!" But, the darkness repeated what I said. I pull out my sword and ready myself in a defensive stance. I'm scared... I frantically look around as I feel a chill down my spine. Nothing.
But, I can feel someone staring at me... "Who there!?" It echoed and threw back what I said. I decided to move closer to the dark...

"STOP!" I heard a voice in my head. "Stay where you are no matter what." It warns me.

"Who are you?" I await his response.

"Wait, you heard me?" The response I get makes me dumbfounded.

"Yes? I do, who else would I be talking to?" I joke.

I can hear the happiness in the tone of the strange voice, "My name is Alastair, I am your inner darkness."

"Inner Darkness?" I can feel Alastair nodding in my head.

"Yeah, every Astrals turn into Darkness once they die, so frankly, I am not you, nor I would be able to converse with you. This is like, very rare." Come to think of it, I never knew where darkness came from, all Father had told me was, that they were born in the shadows.

"If that's true... Then we're killing the remnants of dead Astrals?" Alastair laughs.

"No, no, you got it all wrong. We are not the same, you are an Astral, and I am just a nuisance Darkness. By that, I meant that, when you die, I will replace you, and I can do whatever I want. But, to be honest, I don't even want to replace you knowing that Darkness is seen as bad."

"Then can you help me get out of here? They all need me." I await his response as he left me in silence... "Hello?"

"Sorry but, no."

"Wha - why is that?!"

"Whoa! Whoa! Calm down. The thing is, you are stuck in the dark ruins and there is no way out unless the Astrals or Creatures outside free everyone from the curse of the Dark King." Dark King? And the dark ruins?

"..."

Brothers... I'm sorry...
