Chapter 33 - You Made Her Cry

Meanwhile, after Radiant got kidnapped, the 7 Beings planned to head back to Nomara to tell the news. They found Feront and Gargan loitering about, screaming the name of the Time Being. Wondering where he could have gone. The Wolf was afraid he was taken, naive to the possibility that the Goat is also conspiring with the Darkness.

Back at Nomara. Aidan is patrolling the area, he sees Princess Hannah tending to the sick at the Cathedral. He flies down and greets her.

"Princess Hannah." I bow before continuing, "Forgive me for disturbing your work but, I just wanted to check up on you." I raise my head.

"Oh! Aidan, sorry I didn't see you there." She giggles, "And don't worry, we're done for today."

"How was- uh- how was your work?" I ask leaning on a pillar.

"Oh, well, it's been fine, not many Creatures were hurt recently." She walks past me, I froze a bit and decided to follow her.

"So um.. Are you sure you're feeling okay?" I scratch my head.

"Yeah? Why do you ask?" My heart is beating so fast, I still can't tell you how I feel, I'm such a coward.

"No reason." I've known her since both she and her brother were young, we three used to play in the fields. It's so long ago but it feels stupid to miss the past. "Hannah, if anything happens, I want you to know that you can trust me." Our peers once hurt her, they denied her of being friends because of her status, illness, and origin.

"Of course, I remember you saying the same thing when we were young." She smiles while she reminisces about our past. "You always beat up the others when I cried. That motivated me to be strong so you never have to hurt anyone." She plucks a flower from the sidewalk. "You and my brother are always overprotective."

"I'm proud of you." She turns around looking in my direction with her grey eyes. "You will become a great Queen someday."

She approaches me and slaps me. "Don't say that..." Tears well in her eyes, "Don't ever say that!"

"What di-" she runs away before I finish what I was going to say. My mind races. "Princess wait!"

I try to run after her, using the wind affinity I ran as fast as I could. But for some reason, she's faster than me. We ran through the streets of the Central Market, the crowd moved aside and greets her but, she just kept running.

"Princess!" She rounded to an alleyway. When I reached the alleyway, she was gone. "Princess..?" I slowly walked into the darkness and called out to her softly. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you." A feel a presence moved behind the boxes. "Hannah?" I slowly approach the boxes.

"Mhph!" A muffled groan of a woman.

"Hannah!" I push out the boxes and encountered a "Darkness.." It laughed with its disheveled figure. Its head is upside down, limbs in the wrong places, and its flesh pumping, dark goo flowing out of holes. I shake my head. "I-I'm not afraid of you, foul Darkness, unhand her at once!" I draw out my sword.

More pained groans came from Hannah, the Darkness smiled, and it reared its head back preparing to snuff the light out of Hannah!

"No!!" I lunged, not knowing that I fell for its trap. I can only wait as its whole mouth opened up, about to swallow me whole. I failed to protect her again... I'm sorry Hannah.

A beam of light blinded me, I closed my eyes in anticipation of a follow-up of an attack. But nothing came. I open my eyes to turn to the source of the light. And there he was Cade, he sighs, "Seriously? What happened to your bravado? You could have killed that Darkness if you didn't let your guard down."

"I-It was holding the Princess hostage, I didn't know what to do!"

"Oh?" He approaches me, a tube-like invention in hand, "So your solution was to give up?" He stared into my eyes with indifference. "An advice, lover boy to lover boy, when you lose and stand back up you've won, if you give up, it's over." He breaks eye contact and left me looking at the ground, in shame. "I'll give you two time to talk, you have to hurry though, we don't have much time."

Hannah places her hand on my shoulders, I look away from her. "Don't look at me.."

"Aidan.." She calls my name and sighs, "Look at me."

"I failed to protect you again." She gently gets in front of me, I look down, ashamed of looking into her eyes. "I promised to protect you... I can't even get you out of trouble." I hide my face using my paws.

She kissed my forehead, "Silly. It was my fault, I ran away."

"I upset you." She wiped a stray tear from my eyes. And shakes her head.

"I might have misunderstood what you meant." She said, "I just don't like the fact that I will replace my mom. It's not something I want, I'd rather not replace her."

"Hannah... I'm so sorry, I didn't know that's why you were upset. Arghh! Stupid stupid!" A slap my face.

She cups my cheeks, "Maybe next time you should think about what you say to others first." Then she hugs me, I hug her back.

"I'm sorry."

"YA DONE YET?!?" We hear Cade shouting and hear him fire his inventions accompanied by screeching. "I MIGHT NEED YOU TO HURRY UP BECAUSE WE'RE NOT SAFE HERE!"

Now that I have a chance to think, I just realized that the Darkness appeared in an alleyway, inside our barrier. How is that possible?

"GUYS! A LITTLE HELP HERE!" A bird-like Darkness is attacking Cade and we realize that the Dawn is setting.

"What is happening..?"

"I CAN EXPLAIN LATER, NOW CAN YOU PLEASE MOVE YOUR ASSES?!"
