Willow looked around the dining room watching the rain beating against the windows. Everything in her told her that being here was a mistake. That Bucky would be furious with her if he were to find out that she was here alone with her ex. But with no one else giving her the answers and Jeremy willing to drop these truth bombs at the drop of a hat, she felt she had no choice.

Hearing footsteps behind her, Willow turned to find Jeremy smiling at her with an outstretched hand cradling a glass of whiskey for her 'Thank you' she replied politely taking the glass and having a sip of the drink. Right now she needed Dutch courage and would therefore happily down this drink in search of it

'You look even more beautiful every time I look at you. I'm not sure if that's even possible, but that's how it feels'

Willow rolled her eyes in exasperation 'Cut the crap Jeremy. I'm not here so that you can flirt with me and try to rekindle some old flame. So if you're not going to tell me anything of value, I'm leaving'

Placing the drink carefully on the table, Willow grabbed her bag walking past Jeremy towards the foyer 'No wait' Willow paused and looked back at him 'How are things with you and Bucky?'

Twisting back round, she continued her path back to the front door 'I'm leaving. I'm not doing this little dance with you. Bye Jeremy'

'Shit ok... ok. I'll tell you what you want to know. Please don't leave'

'Fine you have five minutes and then I'm leaving' making her way back to the front room she threw her bag on the chair and sat staring at him, waiting for him to continue. After a few minutes of silence, she broke it 'What do you want from me Jeremy?'

Placing his own drink on the table, he grabbed another chair facing it to her. 'I just want you to have all the facts. To know what you're getting yourself into. Are you aware that your husband tried to bribe me to leave you alone?'

Shifting closer in his seat, he leant further into her space 'Well not him directly. His little sidekick... Steve. He paid me a little visit on behalf of your precious Bucky. Always getting someone else to do his dirty work for him'

'Enough with the riddles already Jeremy. What are you talking about?'

Feeling her piercing eyes on him had Jeremy squirming in his seat 'Ah so you're not aware then. I can't say I'm surprised' Jeremy rose from the chair and moved standing behind it. His gaze never leaving hers 'They offered me half a million to disappear you know'

Willow couldn't help the cackle that emulated from her throat 'Half a million... you're trying to tell me that Bucky and Steve offered you half a million to stay away from me. Do you have any idea how absurd that all sounds. Besides, Bucky would never do that'

Jeremy cocked his head and smirked at her 'Oh but he would. Your husband did it before and I'm ashamed to say I took the money back then'

Feeling confused, she looked up at him 'Are you trying to say that's the reason we broke up? That the money was more important to you than our relationship? That Bucky was the one to instigate it?'

Sighing he turned his back to her slightly 'Yes. Yes to everything you just asked. It was the reason we broke up and I hate to admit it but the selfish part of me won and I took the money. I've hated myself for it every day since.'

Now it was Willow's turn to rise from the chair, her brain muddled, trying to make sense of everything she was being told. Pacing back and fourth before the fire place, she turned her gaze back to him 'No. I don't believe you. Why would he even do that.. it makes no sense'

Waving his arms in frustration he moved towards her 'Because he wanted you Willow. He's always wanted you and he has done everything in his power to make sure he gets what he wants'

Grabbing her hands to make her look at him, he continued 'I was young then Willow. I was young and stupid but I would never and I mean never make that same mistake with you again'

Losing some of her resolve slightly, she could feel herself choking up 'Jeremy.. look'

'No I'm lot letting you brush me aside again. I'm not letting you go so easily again. I want to fight for you. For us. For the relationship we should have had. I will fight for you Willow'

Seizing the moment he surged forward and grabbed her face between his hands and kissed her. He could feel her freeze when their lips first attached but then as if a switch had been triggered, she started to kiss him backs

Before things could get any more heated, Willow pulled back and out of his grasp 'Shit Jeremy. That shouldn't have happened. I can't do this. I'm so sorry but I can't'

Grabbing her belongings she ran out of the house wiping the tears away. Were they tears of guilt. Tears of sadness. Not even she knew anymore.

Hailing a taxi her thoughts were running through her mind. Tonight was meant to make things clearer. To help plug the gaps she had in her memory but instead it had left her feeling more confused.

Walking into the compound, she was startled out of her reverie by a voice 'Did you have fun Willow?'

Turning she was confronted by Steve. He looked pissed at her but he can't have known about her meeting Jeremy. Could he?'
