Willow looked between them both before noticing that the little show Bucky and Jeremy had just put on were garnering the looks of everyone at the party. Feeling herself getting embarrassed at the whispers and looks they were getting, she shook her head lightly at them both before disappearing into the crowd as the tears started to fall.

Feeling desperate, Bucky followed after her 'Willow.. wait' he was so stupid. How could he have been stupid enough to have let that piece of shit get under his skin like that 'Willow... sweetheart. Please wait'

She whirled round at him 'Don't call me that right now James. What the hell were you thinking?'
Moving his hand up to brush away the stray tears he looked at her. Really looked at her and even when upset she was still breathtakingly beautiful 'I don't know. It's a really good question but all I can say is that I let my anger get the better of me and I shouldn't have'

Bucky took a step back before continuing 'You know what... I've been driving myself insane, making a complete ass of myself. Literally trying everything possible to save what we have and you've just been out there throwing yourself at Jeremy by the sounds of things'

Had she been throwing herself at Jeremy. Not intentionally and fuck him for insinuating that she had 'That's not fair Buck'

'Really.. that's not fair. That's not fair! I see the way you look at him and I know because you used to look at me that way'

Willow could literally feel her heart breaking at his confession. She could see all the pain in his eyes. Pain she had caused him and the guilt just ate her up 'Buck......'

Before she could continue, Bucky placed a finger over her lips. Essentially stopping her in her tracks 'No I think we need to start being realistic Willow. Your memories aren't coming back. The fact is I'm still a stranger to you'

Bucky choked at those last words and Willow couldn't stand to be so far from him at this point 'I'm not trying to hurt you'

He smiled at her 'I know Willow.. I know' hearing him being so sincere even when his heart was breaking opened the dam she had tried to keep shut and she let the tears really fall now 'I'm just....... I'm so tired of disappointing you. Of disappointing everyone really'

This is it. He could feel it to his core. This was going to be the end for him and Willow. Not caring about giving her space anymore, he pulled her flush with his chest and let her cry 'I know sweetheart. Trust me I know'

Willow gripped on to the lapels of his jacket tighter 'I'm so sorry Buck'

Taking in a deep breath, Bucky pressed one last kiss on the top of her head before releasing her 'I'll apologise to everyone before I leave'

Thinking of Bucky apologising when none of this mess was actually his fault broke her 'Oh god no.. it's fine. Party disasters have a way of turning into great stories anyway... well eventually they do'

Bucky slightly chuckled at this 'Yeah and those disasters usually have your name written all over them' causing Willow to laugh 'Why doesn't that surprise me.... So this is it then huh'

Feeling his heart break, he knew it was best for both of them. They couldn't continue like this anymore. It was exhausting and the woman he loved was no longer there. That accident had taken her away from him and as much as they had been fighting it, it was time to let go 'Tell me. How do you look at the girl you love and tell yourself it's time to walk away'

Bucky felt his own cheeks dampen as he let the tears finally fall. Months of sadness and disappointment were all being released in that moment.

He smiled at her one more time before nodding and walking away but stopped just before reaching the door when her voice stopped him in his tracks 'Bucky'

Bucky turned to meet her eyes looking sadly at him 'Yeah Willow' she moves closer to him cupping his cheek with her right hand 'I hope one day that I can love the way that you love me'

Knowing that this might be the last chance to hold her in his arms, he pulled her to into him kissing her passionately. Their tongues dancing with each other. Every ounce of sorry, sadness and love was poured into that kiss and all too quickly it was over. Whispering against her lips, Bucky managed to choke out 'You figured it out once Willow and I know you'll do it again'

He slowly untangled her arms from around his neck and headed out, knowing that he was going to break down at any moment. As he heard the door shut behind him, he heard the faint sobs from the woman he had just left behind. He had to get out of there.

Barrelling througn the crowds, Steve spotted his friend in distress 'Wow Bucky slow down buddy' taking in the tear stains on his cheek and the way he looked defeated, he know something was wrong 'Where's Willow? What's happened'

Bucky looked up at his friend who honestly knew him better than he knew himself 'You remember how your ma used to tell us that if you loved something you let it go and if it comes back it was meant to be and if it didn't, it was never yours in the first place'

Steve nodded 'Yeah I remember'

'We'll I'm finally letting something I love go. I'll catch you later' and Steve watched as Bucky all but bolted out of there, his focus now on Willow and making sure she was ok
