Steve could feel the pounding of his heart. His mind was currently blank. After years of pushing down his feelings, of pretending he was ok watching his best friend and the woman he's in love with making a life together, it was now all out in the open.
Cautiously he looked at his surroundings to see Willow blinking, almost as if she were trying to process everything she had just seen and heard and Wanda couldn't even look at him. She at least had the decency to bow her head down perhaps in guilt at delving into his private thoughts without permission.
In the background, Steve could make out voices in the corridor and this spurred him into action because he'd be damned if anyone else in this building were going to find out about the feelings he had for his best friends wife. Running over to the door, he slammed it shut before looking back at the ladies "Can we all agree to bury this and not talk about it ever again. Please"
Curling in on herself, Wanda nodded before turning her gaze on Steve "Yeah of course. It stays within this room" looking at her friend who was still looking stunned and Steve who looked on the verge of breaking down, Wanda felt the bile rising knowing that this could change their relationship "I think I'm going to go and let you guys discuss this"
Feeling the desperation seeping into his bones knowing that he wasn't ready to have this talk with Willow, he shook his head at Wanda "I'd rather you stay if it's all the same to you considering you did insert yourself into my business and invaded my privacy by looking into my memories without permission"
Wanda could feel the guilt forming. Steve was right and she knew it. Delving into someone's mind without permission was unforgivable and she knew it.
Sensing her friend's discomfort, knowing that Wanda only did what she asked, Willow stepped closer to Steve "This is all my fault, not Wanda's. She only did this because I asked her to. I knew you were keeping something from me and I went the wrong way in figuring it out. I'm so sorry Steve"
Feeling embarrassed and frustrated, Steve pushed his hand through his hair "Why did you have to push? Why couldn't you have just left it alone Willow"
The hurt was rolling off Steve, which made the bile threatening to claw it's way out of her throat more prominent "I am sorry. I know I should've left it alone but I just felt as if you were keeping something big from me and I've been lied to so many times since I've woken up. I just didn't want to be lied to anymore"
Looking at Willow blinking slowly, he knew this was why he loved her. Why he was in love with her and always would be. It was her ability to lay bear her heart for all to see so unapologetically.
Wanda took this moment to speak "Steve, I'm so sorry that we invaded your privacy like we did but I promise that there was no malicious intent there"
Watching Steve coming back to himself, looking less like a caged animal and more like himself, Willow probed gently "I'm presuming Bucky doesn't know about any of this. About how you feel towards me. Does anyone else in the team know"
Shaking his head, Steve gave Willow his full attention "No and I'd appreciate it if you'd both keep quiet about this. Nothing has to change between us Low. I was never going to act on these feelings. No one was ever meant to find out. Please can we drop this now"
Nodding sincerely, Wanda made sure Steve knew she had his support "You have my word that it stays between us"
Willow tried to take Steve's hand but he moved out of her reach as his skin flushed red. Dropping her hand so it was no longer a threat, Willow waited until he looked her in the eye "If that's what you want, that's what we'll do. I'll make sure it only stays between us"
Steve nodded before turning abruptly, practically throwing the door open and leaving without looking back. Feeling the tension leaving the room, Willow looked over at Wanda "I'm sorry Wanda. I should never have dragged you into that"
Smiling, Wanda rubbed her friends arm "You didn't make me do anything what I wasn't willing to do Willow. You don't need to apologise to me"
With one last smile of reassurance, Willow headed to where she knew Bucky would be. The dilemma was whether she should tell him or not. She didn't want to keep secrets from him but at the same time didn't want to break her promise to Steve. She'd already hurt him enough
Hands grabbed her around the waist and pulled her in until she came face to face with Bucky "What took you so long, I missed you this morning. I hated waking up to find you gone"
And just like that, being in Bucky's arms made everything else fade away "I was just helping Wanda with something, besides I wasn't gone that long. Two hours maximum"
Pushing her against the wall so that he had her trapped, Bucky started peppering kisses down her neck "That was two hours too long if you ask me. Do we have any plans for the rest of the day?"
Moaning, Willow tilted her neck to allow Bucky more access "Not that I'm aware of, why? What did you have in mind?"
Pulling back slightly to place a chaste kiss on her lips, he started to remove her top "Well I thought we could go back upstairs and I'll show you what I intended to do with you this morning if you hadn't abandoned me"
Willow smiled pushing Bucky back gently so she had enough room to remove her bra. Staring at him seductively she bit her lip, knowing how much it drove him wild "What are we waiting for"
That was all the encouragement Bucky needed as he whipped her up so her legs fastened around his waist, nipping at her skin as he all but ran to their bedroom
Authors Note: This one is a favourite of mine. Knowing the way Steve feels about her but watching how in love she is with Bucky warms my heart. It won't stay like this for long though. Pls like/comment/share if you're enjoying the story 💙
