Chapter 25
"Ilang beses na kitang sinabihan, Nate. I don't entertain another guy."
I thought he already stopped asking me to have a dinner with him after the scene he did last time. But this time, it was not just a dinner he was asking for between us; it was a family dinner he had been asking me for.
"Lein, just this one, please," he pleaded.
Still, I stood in my guard. "You know already my answer, Nate.
"We're friends, Lein," he said, half laughing. "Friendly dinner lang, and no other feelings. Maybe your mind changed, allowing me to court you if you meet my family."
I don't have interest falling in love with you."
"Because of that guy?"
"He's not just a guy. He's my man," I corrected him.
"You're still in a courting stage, Lein. How many months you said? Months? But I can do even years!"
I remained calm. I tried to be not affected by his words. I won't allow him to consume me with his thoughts. Wala siyang alam sa relasyon namin ni Jinoh.I stepped back from him when he held me onto my shoulders, cornering me in his arms.
His brows furrowed. "If you keep with that attitude, Lein, the man you were proud of will surely give up on you."
I felt a pang of pain."I'm a guy too, Lein. Alam ko ang takbo ng utak niya. I won't be surprised when he leaves you because of your pettiness. Just be thankful to me because I have a lot of patience with you."
I breathe out.
I blocked his number, then showed it to him after.
"Here's my answer to you, Nate," I said, still showing my phone screen on him.
"Lein, you were joking right?" his voice was scared. "Mas mayaman ako sa kaniya. My mother owns a news agency."
I had enough from him.
"Bakit? May nangyari?"
