I make my way through the crowds at London City Airport until I reach the next intersection, where a dozen people are waiting for passengers from the Los Angeles to London flight. I slow down and stop next to them, so that I can see them coming out.
June texted me several times before she got on the plane begging me to get her a scarf when she arrived but like the asshole that I am, I completely forgot. She's going to give me a hard time, especially since it's snowing so much here.
I moved here, as planned, when I got out of the reformatory with the financial help of my father who finally learned from his mistakes and gave me, with what he already had, the life I deserved in London. It took me several months to buy a place to live and to find a job that I really like; in a bakery.
As for my love situation, I was faithful to my love, June. Our long-distance relationship was really complicated at first but eventually we got used to it and I have to admit that seeing her arrive here, several years later, gives me the jitters.
Does she still love me like she used to?
Has she changed?
Sure she has.
— The flight from Los Angeles has landed. Please proceed to Gate B, where an agent will be available to assist you.
It's when I hear the loudspeaker that I drastically come to my senses. Excitement builds up inside me and the thought of being able to hold her again drives me crazy.
I fidget nervously with my fingers in the pocket of my big black coat as my eyes roam the long corridors of boats ahead of me. If I could, I'd have run past the barrier and into her arms by now.
"Are you waiting someone ?"
The female voice emanating from my right side calms me in my thoughts. She seems to be addressing me, so I turn towards her to discover a platonic blonde, holding a baby in her arms smiling at me with her beautiful teeth.
"Yes, I'm waiting for my girlfriend."
Her smile widens as the head-to-toe clothed baby wiggles her little hands in my direction.
"My husband is the pilot of the plane." She informs me proudly.
"You can thank him for me, for bringing her back safely."
She laughs heartily.
" Of course! Besides, I think there's someone watching you right over there." She replies pointing to the long corridors.
When I turn to her, a whole host of sensations come over me. Her beautiful emerald eyes stare at me with so much love that I wonder how I could have doubted it, her long black hair now comes to the back of her neck, in a bob. It makes her look more mature, more grown up. It would be an offence not to mention the big smile that makes her shine all the more, because it is quite wonderful.
Without wasting any time, she runs towards me like a fury. My heart beats for her, I have so much love to offer her. But first I have to feel her again.
I think I'm losing myself when she finally jumps into my arms, I become euphoric, which pushes me to lift her up to make her twirl in the air before placing my lips on hers.
I have missed them so much.
I've missed her so much.
Finally, we got our happy ending.
The future is in our hands and nothing and no one can spoil it for us. Through our story at the reformatory, and the four years that followed it, I was able to learn to love with such passion. Even though our beginnings were not very romantic, June was the best thing that happened to me in my twenty-one years of life.
And if one day our story should come to an end, I will not regret it.
I'll regret nothing.
This story may be very short to you, but not to me who lived it.
So,
To finalise it,
I dedicate all my love to this girl,
next to my room.
