Chapter 32 : Hogwarts' Best Student

The door swung open. Professor Mcgonagall's immediately flew to her chest as she tried to slow her breathing, eyeing all of them thankfully. Dumbledore was standing next to the mantle piece beaming.

"Ginny!", shouted the woman who was crying by the fire, she leapt to her feet, shortly followed by a man. Both of them flung their arms over Ginny. The Weasleys, Hayley recognised them from the time Ginny's Dad and Malfoy's dad ended up in a brawl. 

Fawkes swooshed past them and sat on Dumbledore's shoulder looking content with himself. Just then she saw a figure standing further inside the room, amidst the shadows, Professor Snape. Before she could look at him properly Mrs. Weasley had pulled her, Harry and Ron into a very very  tight  hug. She stood stiffly, her face awkwardly smushed against Ron's hair. Hayley was confused as to why she was also getting hugged, when Mrs. Weasley didn't even know her. Nevertheless she felt warmed by the gesture.

"You saved her! You saved her! How did you do it?" said Mrs. Weasley,

"I think we'd all like to know that," said Professor McGonagall weakly. By now Professor Snape had moved further into the light. His expression not giving a single clue on what he was thinking.

Harry looked around sharing a look with Ron And Hayley, placing the Sorting Hat, The Sword, and the Diary which had a gaping hole through it.

He looked hesitantly over Snape before telling about all the clues they had found which eventually led up to him finding the entrance to the Chamber. Snape was about to say something, but Mcgonagall cut him off, keeping the snide remarks for later.

"Very well, so you found out where the entrance was -- breaking a hundred school rules into pieces along the way, I might add - but how on earth did you all get out of there alive, Potter?" She asked straightening her spectacles.

As Harry started to talk again, everyone in the room subconsciously leaned forward, keen on not missing a single syllable. Hayley continued the story whenever Harry would took some time to soothe his throat. But both of them steered clear away from the fact that Ginny was the one wo opened the Chamber, as though they had a pact.

When both Harry and Hayley had finished stating what happened, Dumbledore spoke with a faint smile, "What interests me most, is how Lord Voldemort managed to enchant Ginny, when my sources tell me he is currently in hiding in the forests of Albania."

Harry looked so relieved that he wasn't the one who had to break to the Weasleys that their daughter had been possessed. 

"W-what's that?" said Mr. Weasley in a stunned voice. "You-Know-Who? En-enchant Ginny? But Ginny's not ... Ginny hasn't been ... has she?"

"It was this diary," said Harry quickly, picking it up and showing it to Dumbledore. "Riddle wrote it when he was sixteen . . . ."

Dumbledore took the diary from Harry and peered keenly down his long, crooked nose at its burnt and soggy pages. "Brilliant," he said softly. "Of course, he was probably the most brilliant student Hogwarts has ever seen."

"Well I'd like to take that Mantle," Hayley said nonchalantly, everyone around her stared at her expressions varying from surprise to mortification, only then Hayley understood what she had blurted out.

"No! I didn't mean it that way! I have no interest in wanting to rule the Wizarding World or anything, it's just that its kind of a shame that the  greatest student Hogwarts has seen is the  most powerful Dark Wizard of all time," She rambled her arms flailing.

Mcgonagall had her lips pressed in a thin line, Snape let out a sigh pinching his eyebrows, while Dumbledore let out an amused chuckle.

"I'm sure you are bound to do great things down the line Ms. Hayley, but back to the issue in hand," he said. Hayley ducked her head, her cheeks burning from embarrassment, though she was right, kind of a shame Voldemort was the best pupil Hogwarts ever produced.
