Chapter 3 : To Diagon Alley

Professor Mcgonagall was explaining Hogwarts to Hayley, who gave her undivided attention to the professor, just then a silver doe came, passing through the wall and stopped in front of Professor Mcgonagall. A voice of a man came from the silver doe - "I'll be there at Diagon Alley".

Professor Mcgonagall got up from her seat, dusting her dress lightly and turned towards Hayley,

"We better get started, we need to take the trains to reach Diagon Alley, " to which Hayley replied with a "Yes Professor,".

As they both got out of the room, Ms Mildred immediately came to them and before she could start talking, Professor Mcgonagall spoke,

"If you will excuse us, we need to buy some essential school supplies",

"Umm no, she isn't going anywhere" said Mildred, pointing to Hayley. Mcgonagall turned towards Mildred with a stern look that had a tint of exasperation,

"Look, Miss, I've already walked you through this, our school is more than willing to offer education to Hayley and I assure you, we do not expect your financial assistance in this."

Mildred spoke, anger seeping into her voice, "But why her? There are so many other normal children, who might benefit more from your school. This girl here she is a-",

"I dare you to complete the sentence, Miss, I've mentioned this to you before, and now again that we are only interested in supporting Miss Hayley. Now if I've set that clearly, I'm taking Hayley with me to buy some school supplies, I will drop her here once we're done and one of us, from the school, will come and pick her up when the term starts, on the 1st of September" ,

"But this doesn't comply with the rules of the orphanage! You cannot just enter and do as you wish lady!" spluttered Mildred,

"I'm sure there are provisions, to enable children here to receive proper education, now please don't tally us any longer, time is of essence, I'm sure Hayley and I will be able to chat with you Later" saying that, Professor Mcgonagall walked towards the entrance, with Hayley tailing behind her.

The other kids were silently watched the dramatic exit, while Mildred grunted, walking back into her office, slamming the door behind her.

Hayley couldn't fight the smile off her face, she was finally out of the orphanage, she felt a sense of freedom sweeping over her as she walked freely, feeling light after a very long time.

Hayley and Professor walked down the main road to reach the nearby bus stand. Once the bus came, Professor Mcgonagall paid for the tickets, and they settled themselves in the empty seats.

Hayley started to open the letter from the school while Professor Mcgonagall was going over a list of names written on a piece of parchment. Hayley opened the letter, excitement bubbling inside her.

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock,
Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Ms Hayley,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment. Term begins on 1st September.
