Chapter 24 : Mystery Ends

Hayley woke up the next morning cheerfully. She got ready and went to the great hall.

She was never the one to show her affection or gratitude physically, and yet when she saw Jae she couldn't help but throw her arms over him as she pulled him in for a hug, though initially surprised Jae returned the hug with equal enthusiasm.

After each of them gushed over their presents Hayley asked something which was bugging her,

"Though how did Claire find out the address or how was she abor to write back? Did the agency craft a false address or something? " She asked,

"Well... There is no agency, me and Xan couldn't believe you bought that fib, " Jae laughed shaking his head,

"What?! " Hayley exclaimed her mouth gaping,

"The agency was my parents, I sent them the letter and they inturn sent it to Claire who sent her reply to my parents who sent it to me who then gave it to you, " Jae finished,

"I-i really don't know how to thank you," She faltered,

Jae waved his hand dismissively.

Hayley patted herself mentally for sending both Xan and Jae's parents a small Christmas Greeting, it was the least she could do.

Soon it was time for Hogwarts's famous Christmas Feast. Though the Christmas decorations have been up for a few weeks, Hayley couldn't help but think they looked even more beautiful and ethereal that night. Enchanted snow fell down gracefully.

Just when she was about to walk over to the Slytherin table, Jae stopped her.

"Why don't we sit at my table today? Shake it up a bit, " He said,

"You sure the other students at the house wouldn't mind? " She asked tentatively,

"No, they'll be okay with it, and i would like to introduce you to another girl from our year from my house, " Jae said as they walked to the Ravenclaw table.

At the far end of the table away from the staff table, a girl with dirty blonde hair was sitting, swinging her legs slightly. She was looking at the ceiling in a haze, dreamily. As they neared ber Hayley could see that the girl was wearing... Radish earrings?

Jae nervously looked between the girl and Hayley, after Luna was a little  bit different from the rest,

"Hey Luna," He said, standing next to her, Hayley stood beside him and smiled in greeting, she had never really noticed or given much thought to Luna up until now.

"I brought my friend along, " Jae said gesturing to Hayley,

"The more the merrier, please come... I'm sorry I didn't catch your name, " Luna asked politely,

"Hayley, " She introduced herself extending a hand which Luna shook.

The three of them sat and it was hard to start the conversation at first but once they did, it went great.

Seemingly endless amount of delicacies piled before them whilst the Headmaster encouraged them to join in singing some of his favourite carols.

Hayley couldn't help but giggle when Luna changed some of the words in the carols and gave them an elaborate explanation on how her version was actually the right one. She also talked about her father who was the editor of a magazine called -'The Quibbler'.

Amidst all this she could here Draco speaking in a loud voice about the gifts he had received this year, gifts for which he was grumbling to write thank you notes for. Hayley clicked her tongue annoyed at it.
