Chapter 33 : Family Ties

The Headmaster's Office was a circular stone room filled with portraits of previous headmasters and headmistresses of Hogwarts. And it was filled with various other trinkets. The room had a certain charm and elegance to it.

Dumbledore was sitting on his chair, behind the clawed foot table.

"About time, please take a seat, " He said signaling towards the puffy chairs in front of him,

"Would you like some tea?" he offered, Hayley and Harry politely declined.

"Before I start, you can ask me any questions if you'd like to," He said suggestively. Hayley felt as though he read her mind.

"Err professor, I do have something to tell," Hayley said fiddling with her fingers, Dumbledore gave an encouraging nod,

"Since I've gotten to Hogwarts, I've performed wandless magic twice, the first time was around Halloween and the second was yesterday, " Hayley said,

"Wait, When?" Harry asked puzzled,

"The snakes, I didn't use my wand to free myself," Hayley explained,

"Do you know how you are able to do so?" Dumbledore asked,

"Well it happens when I'm in some sort of emotional stress, like if I'm too sad or angry or desperate, it's like a power I can tap into for a very brief period," She elaborated,

"Has this happened before?"Dumbledore asked, a serious look clouding his face,

"Oh loads of times, in the orphanage. I tried very hard to suppress it, but it only got worse. After I came to Hogwarts, the random outbursts of magic completely stopped," She said,

"You should consider yourself extremely lucky Hayley," Dumbledore said, "From what you've said, there were high chances that the magic you suppressed could've ended obscurial,"

"Obscurial?" Hayley asked clueless,

"It's a parasitic manifestation of powerful magic which is incredibly dangerous," He said looking sombre, he looked like he had drifted off to another world for a second,

"Though I don't quite understand why you were able to perform wandless magic, I would suggest you refrain from using it, at least till we know more about it," He said looking both stern yet gentle. Hayley nodded in agreement.

"Anything you need add Harry?" He asked,

"None sir," Harry replied.

"Alright then, I called you both here today to tell you something, it might come off as a bit of a shock and a surprise," Dumbledore said,

Hayley and Harry shared a puzzled look,

"Are you familiar about the Potters Hayley?" Dumbledore asked,

"A bit? I know they fought against Lord Voldemort and that they were in hiding before he had found them," She said carefully not using the word 'dead' in front of Harry,

"Well it has come to my knowledge recently that the Potters were not a family of three but four, "Dumbledore said,

"What!" Harry yelled, his eyes widening,

"Lily Potter had given birth to their daughter a few months ago, before the night at Godric's Hollow," Dumbledore said,

Harry looked extremely shocked, his face paled a bit and his mouth kept opening trying to form words.

"But Professor, I've not seen a single picture of her in the album Hagrid gave me," Harry tried to reason. This was clearly about the Potters, Hayley was confused as to why she was involved.
