AARON XAVIER REYES, The Hydrein Magician

CILAN'S POV
I used my left arm to shield most of the blinding illumination, then adjusted my eyes to the surroundings.
Dahan-dahan akong bumangon. The memories of what transpired before I lost my consciousness suddenly flowed.
"Ang laban namin kay Celestine... Ano kaya ang naging resulta? Nanalo kaya kami, o natalo?" tanong ko sa sarili.
"We won, Cilan. All thanks to you," masayang balita ng isang napakapamilyar na boses.
I glanced towards the bearer of the good news, Xavier. Nakaupo rin ito sa sariling hospital bed. Despite being wrapped in bandages around his head and right arm, mukhang ayos lang naman ang lagay nito.
Namilog ang mga mata ko. "Talaga? Nanalo tayo? Natalo natin si Celestine? Tayo ang champions this year?"
Napatawa si Xavier. "Grabe ang reaksyon, ha? Oo naman. Wala ka bang tiwala sa'ming apat?"
"It's not it. Siyempre, alam ko naman kung gaano kayo kalakas," natatawang bawi ni Cilan. "But we know Celestine's power as well. After fainting from tanking her Luminux attack, I felt bad for not being able to help you anymore."
"Ano bang sinasabi mo? You, out of all of us, made this win possible," kontra ni Xavier sa sinabi ko. "Kung hindi mo napilit si Celestine na gamitin ang pinakamalakas niyang spell, we wouldn't be able to take her down. More than anyone in the team, you deserve the credit for our Championship."
"No, Xavier. All five of us, and the entire delegation. We deserve this win," giit ko, to which the Hydrein Magician agreed with a nod. "Teka, kumusta sina Sloane, Kristoff, at Winter? Are they alright?"
"Don't worry about those idiots. They're in the pink of health," imporma ng binata. "Pumunta sila kanina rito para i-check tayong dalawa. Excited na nga silang rumampa sa Awarding Ceremony mamayang gabi."
"Can we attend the ceremony mamaya, with all the bruises on our bodies?" natatawa kong biro.
Napabuntong-hininga si Xavier. "How I wish I can use my regenerative Magic, but I was informed by the doctor that I won't be able to recover MP for at least a day. May inilagay din na tracking spell ang isang medical wielder sa'kin sa utos ni Coach Archer, para ma-detect nila oras na gumamit ako ng wielding Magic."
Napatawa ako. "Wala talagang tiwala si Coach Archer sa tigas ng mga ulo natin. Well, he has a point."
"Ah, Cilan..." tila nag-aalinlangang tawag ni Xavier.
"May itatanong sana ako sa'yo. Kung pwede lang."Napakunot-noo ako. "Sure thing. Bakit ang seryoso mo? Parang nakakatakot naman 'yang itatanong mo."
Hindi kaagad tumugon ang lalaki. Tila nag-aalinlangan itong magsalita, kaya mas lalo akong kinabahan.
"Are you... Are you about to make an important decision one of these days?" biglang tanong ni Xavier.
Napangiti ako sa narinig. "Oo naman. Every day, I make important decisions. Akala ko kung ano na."
To my surprise, nanatiling seryoso ang mukha ni Xavier. "Cilan, alam mo kung ano ang tinutukoy ko."
"Xavier..." tangi kong nasambit. Hindi ako kaagad nakasigurado kung pareho kami ng tinutumbok, but then I looked into his eyes. Ngayon, nakakasiguro na ako.
