OLIVER'S FLASHBACK

​"Hey, buddy! Done now with school?" tanong ni Tyrone habang inaayos nito ang bag niya katabi ng bag ko.

Nakatambay kami ngayon sa isang bench malapit sa pocket forest ng school. Every MWF ay nagkikita kami ni Tyrone dito. Madalas kasi na walang tao na nagagawi sa bandang ito ng eskwelahan tuwing hapon. Minsan nga ay inaabot kami ng hanggang 8 pm sa pagkwekwentuhan dito.

​"I finished my exam around 20 minutes early." Kinuha ko ang fresh juice in tetra pack na paborito naming dalawa. Eversince, mahilig sa orange juice si Tyrone, habang apple naman ako.

​I saw Tyrone pulled something from his bag. Nanlaki ang mga mata ko when I saw him grab a purple velvet-covered case. It's the Rolex watch na nagustuhan ko when we dropped by a watch boutique!

​"Happy anniversary, Liam," masuyong bati ng binata sa'kin bago iaabot ang hawak na kahita.

​"Freaking God, Ty!" ecstatic kong sigaw. "This is super expensive! Tyrone..."

​Ginulo ko ang buhok ng binata while smiling, causing him to scream in disgust.

​Ngayon ang first anniversary namin ni Tyrone. Grade seven nung una kong nakita ang lalaki sa junior high school na pinapasukan namin. By then, naging crush ko na siya. Pero dahil pareho kaming lalaki, siyempre 'di ko 'yun masabi sa kanya.

When we were on our ninth grade, we became classmates. Then we became groupmates on our Science class. One time, he invited me sa bahay nila for dinner. He admitted that the first time he saw me in the school cafeteria, he felt something special in an instant. Kaya lang, gaya ko, natakot din daw siya umamin sa'kin. Kaya nga tuwang-tuwa siya when we became classmates. He then planned for this fateful night to happen. Needless to say, sinagot ko si Tyrone at ngayon, we are celebrating our very first anniversary.

​"Alam ko na. You're shocked because you don't have a gift for me?" tila nagtatampo nitong tanong.

​Sumimangot ako. "Pwede ba 'yun?"
Then I grabbed something from my bag. Inabot ko sa kasintahan ang isang maliit na box.

​"What is this?" nagtataka nitong tanong.

​"Open it," matipid kong sagot. He did, and I saw his eyes glowed with joy.

​"Liam, this is... inubos mo na 'ata ang allowance mo for the year!" he yelled.

​I gave him a gold and platinum necklace with a key-shaped sapphire pendant. Kinuha ko ang kwintas at ako mismo ang nagsuot nito sa leeg ng binata. "'Ayan! Fits nice."
