☆ 3rd Person POV ☆

Cora smiled as the warm colored leaves crunched underneath her light blue paws. She then opened the back door of her car. She carefully pulled out a pumpkin and brought it into her house.

As she placed the second pumpkin in the living room, a familiar face and paws appeared before her.
" Whatcha got there? ", He questioned, eyeing the pumpkins with his dark green eyes.
" Isn't it obvious, Egan? I got us pumpkins! For pumpkin carving! ", Cora exclaimed, slightly beaming.
" Aren't we a bit too old for that kind of stuff? ", Egan asked, with a small chuckle.
" Nonsense! It is my favorite activity to do during October! I will not give them up, no matter how old I get! ", She stated, firm on her decision.

Egan scoffed and rolled his eyes, grinning at his girlfriend's antics.
" Alright fine. Anyway, I'm doing to the kitchen, would you like anything? Coffee? Hot chocolate? ", He offered, sweetly.
" Coffee, please. Warm and sweet with milk and sugar. You know, my favorite ~ ", She told him, with a small giggle at the end.
" Ah yes. The best kind ~ ", He chirped, waving his yellow, fluffy tail back and forth in a happy motion.

After a minute or so, Egan came back with Cora's coffee and placed it on the coffee table. He quickly went back to retrieve his own coffee. Cora had placed a tarp on the living room's soft carpet, the pumpkins and supplies held it down by gravity. She sat with her paws around her pumpkin, lightly tapping it as she waited for her lover to return so they could start the process.

Egan curled his tail around himself as he approached his pumpkin.
" Ready to start? ", He asked, looking over towards the growing impatient Cora.
She nodded quickly and grabbed the large cutting knife. She swiftly stabbed the top, slicing through the skin and flesh of the pumpkin.
" You scare me sometimes. ", Egan commented, brushing it off with a small chuckle.
" But this is part of the ritual! ", Cora exclaimed, still her dark purple eyes being focused on her slicing.

Both were now ripping the gooey orange insides of the pumpkin. Egan was using a spoon, while Cora was using her paws with her claws, extended.
" I can't believe you can use your own paws. Doesn't it get in between your claws? ", He asked, lightly tossing a scoop of pumpkin guts into the gooey pile.
" It does, but that's all a part of the fun! Plus, the pumpkin is quite cold inside. ", She answered, smiling as she pulled another pawful of guts from the inside.
" Anyway, what are we going to do about all of the extras? ", He questioned, gesturing to the continuous growing scraps pile.
" Well, for many different things. ", She stated, still quite focused.
" As in? ", He went on, raising one eyebrow at her.
" We could use the seeds for planting or eating. The chunks of pumpkin can be for fertilizer. And the guts can be used for both fertilizer and eating. We could try to make pumpkin pie out of it! ", She informed with her great knowledge.
" You eat the seeds? ", He commented.
" We should dry them off and roast or cook them first. Not eat them raw. I'm not a savage. ", She explained.
" Uh huh. ", He stated, rolling his eyes at her again.

Egan squinted in a concentrated manner at the paper cut out design he was working at. Then, he peered over at Cora's progression. He quickly noticed the extensive amount of detail she was putting into her design.
" Why are you putting so much effort into it? ", He questioned.
" I can't stop myself. I'm a highly detailed artist, okay? ", She snapped back, somewhat defensively.
" Of course, dear ~ ", He cooed, flirtatiously.

- Small Timeskip -

As both designs were finally finished (Cora takes forever on hers), they brought their jack-o-lanterns to the front porch. After placing a small candle in each one, Egan grabbed a match and lit it with a small flame breath. He lit the candle, beautifully lighting up their jack-o-lanterns. They padded over to look at them as if they were passerbyers.

They glowed with a soft yet strong spooky orange light. Cora quickly gave Egan a small kiss on the cheek.
" Thank you for participating in my weird obsessions. ", She thanked, curling her tail around his flank, affectionately.

It's spooky month!

Happy spooky month everyone! I hope that good Halloween candy and spookyness comes your way!

But anyway, have this fall themed oneshot! I quite enjoyed making it.
