Chapter 27: Found You

—EDRIGO BATUNGBAKAL—

I woke up from my sleep as I felt the nipping sensation of sunlight in my face. And the first thing that welcomed me was her sleeping face.

Gulo-gulo ang kulot nitong buhok while her mouth is wide open and quite snoring in between her sleep.

And then naalala ko kung bakit nga ba ako andito.

Ah shit. We overslept!

I swiftly got back up and looked at the passenger seat where K was sleeping soundly while hugging a pillow. And so, I grabbed his pillow and smacked his face.

"Bro, we slept too much."

I saw how he panicked but the one beside me must've heard our noises and stretched her arms and legs causing her to almost kick me out of the car.

Bakit ba malikot itong pinsan ni Erin.

Sa inis ko ay ibinalik ko ang paa nito sa kung saan man ito dapat.

"Anong oras na?" Tanong ni K so I checked my phone.

"6:45."

I was busy fixing myself and so is my friend, when I started to feel annoyed by her loud snore kaya naman agad kong kinuha ang jacket ko na yakap nito at itinaklob sa mukha n'ya. But I panicked when her snore began to sound so noisy kaya naman dali dali ko itong tinanggal from her face.

"Hey, wake up." Niyugyog ko ito from her sleep but her phone lit up and Erin's mother was calling.

Imbis na gisingin s'ya ay ako na ang sumagot sa tawag.

Damn this woman, naglilikot pa sa tulog.

"Who was it?" My friend attentively asked. 

"Mommy ni Erin---Yes tita?" Asked I when I answered the call. And K whispered at me to put it in speaker so that's what I did. 

[Oh na saan si Nichi?]

"Tulog po."

[Si K hijo, kamusta?]

"Uh.. he's---"

I looked at him and he gave me a glare while mouthing 'sabihin mo tulog!'

"Tulog?"

[Nako hijo. Iuwi mo muna si K. Nung isang araw pa walang maayos na tulog at kain 'yan. Baka nakakalimutan ninyong sa isang araw na ang botohan. Naiintindihan ko naman na pare-pareho tayong hindi mapalagay sa kung na saan si Erin pero magagalit sa akin 'yang si Erin kapag naabutan n'yang ganyan ang anak ni Attorney.]

I saw how K sniff as if he was tearing up, so I gave him the most disgusting look.

'Dude, that's gross.'  Mouthed I. 

"Kaso po ay hindi pa namin nakakalahati ang bayan." I replied.

[Huwag kayong magalala, tinutulungan na tayo ng mga pulis.]

I was silenced, and so is K.

We all wanted to help at gusto namin na kami mismo ang makahanap sa kan'ya since the police waited for 24 hours before conducting a search operation.

Maging si Hugo who was at his grandparents ay bumalik dito sa Cavite and helped with the search kaso ay sa mga pulis s'ya sumama.

"Sige po, we're going home na po." I reassured Erin's mother.
