Several weeks passed and the two lovebirds continued their extended honeymoon atmosphere. Their baby's arrival was just about two weeks away and it will usher their family into the world of parenthood. On a cool December Saturday afternoon, Mrs. Rogers called Sonia, who was out with her brother to buy her some hazelnuts on her way back. The happy daughter –in- law bought two packets for her and headed home.

Michael was reclining in the living room, watching a Pastor T. D. Jakes on TBN when Sonia arrived. His mother was in her room, resting too. Sonia sat next to him and asked where his mother was.

"She's resting in the room."

"I just want to go give her the nuts she asked for."

"Nuts?"

"Yeah, hazelnuts. She said she loves them and wants some."

Before Michael could say anything, his mother was already in front of them. How she got there so quickly without their notice was beyond them. She gave Sonia a resounding slap which shocked the couple to their seats.

"What? You are a liar! I knew it! You want me dead? I have an allergy to hazelnuts! Why would I ask you to buy those for me?"

"Mum!" Michael stood up and restrained his mother who was about to give his wife another slap.

"Sonia wants to kill me o! You know I have been telling you I have been dreaming about her."

"But you told me to buy it for you," Sonia protested as a tear escaped her left eye.

"Why would I want to kill myself when I have a blessed family and a grandson on the way? Why?" She roared and stormed off to her room.

Sonia stood up and wiped her face.

"What just happened? Did your Mum just slap me?"

Michael quickly pulled her into his embrace, stroked her back and whispered words of comfort to her. He was too shocked to think about what happened.

"Let me go and talk to her."

He left Sonia and went in search of his mother but alas, she was locked up in her room, refusing to open. Michael went back to the living room and found Sonia weeping. He felt helpless and speechless as he stood before her, pondering on what to do next.

=====

The next morning started well for Michael and Sonia. The latter who had an early night woke up with a terrible headache. Was it a wonder though? She cried most part of the night and wondered why things changed out of the blue for the worse. After doing their morning devotion and prayed, they prepared for their day as Christmas was just around the corner. According to Dr. Gavin, Michael Rogers junior will be arriving either on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or on Boxing Day at most. Michael looked at the calendar before him,

"December 24th, my son will be here." He said to himself with so much pride and joy.

"One more week babe, and you will be the latest Dad in town." Sonia encouraged him.

He wrapped his arms around her from behind and thanked her profusely for coming into his life and shinning great light and joy into it.

"Sonia, when Michael clocks one year old by the grace of God, let us go on a holiday, you and me. We will leave him with his grandparents."

"I love the idea!" Sonia turned around and hugged him.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
