EPILOGUE

Christmas came in like a rush, and Sonia took JR to be with his grandfather and aunt at the Roger's mansion. The mansion had been locked up throughout their stay in the US, so prior to their return, they had asked Sonia to supervise the restoration of the building, and she did so perfectly. The duo came prepared to spend the rest of the holidays with them. They would leave after New Year. They decided that they would leave on the 5th of January 2024.

After they came back from Christmas service, they had fun playing games and watching Christmas shows together. Whilst there, Sonia got calls from the Managing Director of MSJ INDUSTRIALS, formerly OWOLAFE INDUSTRIAL about an email he sent her for approval on some documents. She noted it and asked him to please enjoy Christmas and leave work. Sonia came back as CEO five years ago, after the Board demanded she came back because the CEO appointed to take over from her began to mess up. But the CEO for ROGERS INDUSTRIES made the entire corporation flourish, helping Mr. Rogers to enjoy and prolong his stay in the US.

After JR went to bed for the night, Mr. Rogers sat Sonia down for an important discussion: marriage.

"God is good. I'm glad we are a family once again. I only wish Michael was here with mother to make it complete." Sonia said ruefully.

"That is why we want to talk to you Sonia." Margaret began. "As you know, my relationship with Gerald is still secret because his mother will be coming out of prison soon, and her relationship with Mum is still rocky. But, we will be getting married soon by God's mighty grace." Margaret announced.

"Oh wow! That is fantastic sis. I hope it does not clash with Kunle's wedding. Abeg o, finalise well. I have to plan both weddings." Sonia replied happily.

"Thank you, but we want to talk about you."

"Maggie, you are both up to something." Sonia said, looking at them with suspicion.

"Sonia, we want you to go on dates, live, move on and just enjoy life. You cannot get stuck to the Rogers forever just because you have our grandson." Mr. Rogers said. 

Sonia gave them a small smile and asked,

"Am I complaining?"

"No dear. But, listen to me. You have your whole life ahead of you. You are 34, healthy, beautiful and have a successful career. The only thing missing is a family of your own: a husband and good and godly father for little Michael."

Sonia smiled again and replied, "Jesus is the Chief Husbandman. He is a father to the fatherless and a husband to widows."

"Few months ago, we commemorated the 10th year anniversary of Michael's passing. You need a good man Sonia and let Michael go. Let him go." Margaret added to all her father said. "I was against the idea of you getting married at first, but I realised that was me being selfish and giving in to the fear of losing you and JR to another family. I loved you so much for big bro that it was hard imagining you with someone else. I was afraid of you marrying someone that would separate you from us and maybe even stop you from seeing us as a part of your life and JR's life."

By this time, Sonia was shedding tears. Margaret's fears were the same one she has been battling with too. She fears a new man meant she would no longer be part of the Rogers anymore. She fears losing the good memories with Michael and even more afraid of opening her heart to someone who might not love JR as his own. Or become part of a family where she would have wicked in-laws who would prefer a single person without a child for their son. She had seen many guys that came close to what she desired, but her fears kept her bound from entering into courtship with any of them. She had asked God to close her heart and only open it for the right person: the best man for her and JR, and her destiny.
