Michael's murder case dragged to the New Year without any new updates. Then something big happened. Sonia woke up one morning only to find she was not alone in the room. She had taken sleeping pills the night before. But as she woke, she found sleeping on Michael's side of the bed, none other than Mr. Benjamin Owolafe. She got up quickly, but quietly. She crept inside the bathroom and came back with a bottle of methylated spirit. Just as she closed the bathroom door, Benjamin woke up.

"Morning darling." He said sweetly and blew her a kiss.

Sonia charged at him, poured the entire content of the 500ml bottle on his head. She gave him several destiny changing slaps before hitting his head with the bottle. He screamed as the content got into his eyes. He was in his pajamas. He really came prepared for whatever show he planned.

She grabbed her phone and called Superintendent Kanu.

"I have a break in situation. Please send your men over. There is a trespasser on my property." After ending the call, she dialed Dr. Gavin's number to get some checkups done, even though she didn't think she was violated.

Dr. Gavin smiled at her and said,

"You were untouched."

"He is hell bent to prove this stupid conspiracy that I was having an affair with him." Sonia cried in frustration.

Superintendent Kanu sighed,

"A conspiracy to seem you were having an affair but to what end?"

"To make it seem you killed Michael to have a new life with your lover. And from the rumour that your mother –in- law made life hard for you during the subsistence of your marriage, it would make sense that you ran into charming Benjamin for comfort." Dr. Gavin replied.

Sonia slapped Benjamin hard across the face again. The latter had rushed to the bathroom and washed his face before the arrival of the Dr. Gavin and Superintendent Kanu. Sonia took that opportunity to lock the door of the room to ensure he did not escape.

"My husband has just died and you are here adding to my sorrow and pain! What kind of a human being are you?"

"Do you want to press charges?" Dr. Gavin asked.

"No. I'll leave this crazy fool for now. His time will come." She replied, then faced Benjamin.

"Get out of my house before this become a scandal that will sink your entire existence and empire!" Sonia bellowed.

Benjamin got up and took his car keys by the dresser.

"Who let you in anyway?" Superintendent asked.

"The gateman."

"O ti gbabode! He has been manipulated and finished off. I'll need to get someone else soon." Sonia said with a roll of her eyes.

"One more thing Owolafe,"

"What?" Benjamin asked flatly.

"Tell that person who sent you that I am alive and well. Tell them it is all over."

Benjamin seethed and left.

"Thank you Superintendent for coming to my aid. Thank you Dr. Gavin."

=====

By the end of January, the Rogers gathered to hear the last will and testament of Michael at his house. Barrister Chukwuemeka informed the family that Michael's shares in ROGERS INDUSTRIES were to be transferred to his sister Margaret. His house, cars, and other valuables were to be left in the care of his father Jerry Rogers. His bank accounts had 20 Million Naira in total and all were to be saved for Margaret's education and future goal of having a shelter for homeless children.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Rogers junior, this was the will he made before he married you." The Barrister said calmly.

Margaret and Mr. Rogers were surprised that Michael's will had not been updated.

Sonia looked at the family and smiled.

"Thank you Barrister licensed liar!"

"Sonia!" Margaret cried.

"By the way, what happened to 'the law is an honourable profession to be a part?' First of all, I have no need of your money or Michael's money because I make mine and it's sufficient for me. Secondly, I feel really bad for you Mr. Rogers. You don't know your wife very well."

"Barrister Chukwuemeka, I dare you to deny this! On the 19th of June 2012, Michael and I came to you because he wanted to amend his will. I have a copy of his latest will and testament."

A knock was heard and Sonia excused herself. She opened the door and four hefty men walked in.

"They are all in the passageway on your left. Take them all to the truck. I'll be joining you soon."

The men obeyed.

"What is going on?" Mr. Rogers asked.

Sonia didn't respond immediately. She handed over to him a brown A4 envelope.

"Sir, you will find in there the original copy and certified copies of Michael's last will and testament." She smiled.

"I'm leaving. I can't stay in this house anymore. Everything here reminds me of him." She added sadly.

"You witch! You came into our lives and destroyed everything! You killed my son and now you want to run away?" You can guess who: Mrs. Rogers.

"It's all done Madam." One of the guys from the moving company reported to Sonia. She didn't have much anyway.

"Thank you."

She turned her attention to Mrs. Rogers.

"You need help Ma'am."

"What?" Mrs. Rogers shouted.

"You are the most insecure person I have ever met. Please get over your issues. Goodbye."

"You shameless gold-digger! I will destroy you! I will ruin you Sonia!"

Sonia smiled weakly, picked up her black Chanel handbag from the coffee table and replied,

"I think you already succeeded in destroying yourself and me in the process of your power hungry and control filled reign. If I were you, I will hold firmly unto what God has blessed me with, I will hold unto what I have left and move on with my life."

With that she said her final goodbyes and left, leaving Mrs. Rogers fuming with rage.

She had entered the house as a married woman. And now, she is leaving it as a childless widow. Sonia sighed as she looked ahead not knowing what the future held for her – as a widow.
