Welcome to another week of the inevitable with Sonia Moses-Rogers😁

====

Michael and Sonia's marriage was blissful and everything they wanted it to be. They went on a week honeymoon to Obudu Mountain Resort at Cross River State. The resort is known for its natural beauty, which comprises a great natural landscape and adventurous activities. They were connected at all levels and did everything as a team. Two whole months of this bliss passed and they gently ease back into their normal lives and schedules. It is said that every good thing has an end, and it did not take long for Sonia to find out.

One cool Friday evening in June, Sonia arrived from work earlier per their norm, freshened up and began to make dinner. They moved into their brand new home, gifted by Mr. Rogers after their arrival from their honeymoon. It was a relief for Sonia, who dreaded living with her parents-in-law until they find a suitable home of their own.

Dinner was ready by the time Michael walked into the single family one-storey house but he was visibly upset but Sonia took little notice.

"Welcome back sweetness." She gave him a small hug and kissed him on his left cheek.

"Dinner is ready, so just go up and freshen up." She added with a bright smile.

"Sonia, is it true that David bought your wedding shoes, jewelries among other numerous wedding presents?" Sonia was taken aback.

No greeting.

No exchange of sweet and heart melting words?

"Excuse me?"

"Don't play dumb with me Sonia!"

This was the first time they would argue seriously about anything and it scared Sonia because David was involved in the matter. It meant only one thing: till date, Michael is insecure and maybe jealous of David.

"Shoes and jewelries? I did not know he bought them." She replied truthfully.

"Really Sonia? It did not dawn on you that your parents couldn't have afforded it?"

Sonia opened her mind to respond but she was silenced by her own realization that he just insulted her parents.

"What Sonia? Are you meeting up secretly? Late night calls?"

Sonia folded her arms across her chest in disbelief. Michael had crossed the line and she will not take this nonsense from him.

"Your dinner is on the table. Good night."

She raced to their bedroom, picked her pillow and left for one of the guest rooms. The handwriting was clear on the wall: His mother has been working on him overtime.

=====

Two whole weeks passed and the couple maintained a cold distance and kept mute around each other, even at church. Sonia did her house chores and even cooked but she did not sit with him to eat.

On a chilling Monday night, Sonia as per her new situation accommodated left a note next to the dinner keeping warm in the food warmer for Michael when he returns. And it read,

"Do not disturb me."

Nothing in the world could have ever prepared her for the nightmare she was experiencing. It was easy to forgive his mother who was just a third party in their life, but what he did was unforgivable. He did not only accuse her of having an affair with her best friend but also insulted her parents. She was outraged by his lack of sense to throw away his mother's wicked schemes. He should know better than to let his mother manipulate him. In the end, she married an unredeemable Mama's boy and pawn.
