Blessed new week, lovely readers. Welcome to the beginning of the end and the beginning of a new beginning 😂

"Happy seventh month wedding anniversary, love." Michael congratulated his wife and handed her a small white gift box. They were seated across from each other at the Ocean View restaurant as he announced to Sonia. They had finished dinner and were chatting over dessert when he made his announcement. Sonia opened the box and found an Emerald Green jewelry set: a necklace and drop earrings. Sonia's mouth opened in awe.

"It will match perfectly with the dress I bought you last week."

Sonia stood up and walked round the table to give him a hug. Michael stood up and received his wife's embrace with gratitude.

"You deserve this and more my love. I hope I am forgiven for everything I did and said wrong to you."

Sonia could not respond as she sobbed on his chest.

After she had calmed down, they sat down once again. Sonia smiled brightly and announced that she has news for him.

"Wait, have they promoted you already?" Michael tried to guess.

"Nope! You forgot that I'm still on the NYSC program. I have better news."

Michael gave her his full attention.

"So, I saw Dr. Gavin yesterday and he gave me the news that we are expecting our first child! I am already three months gone."

Michael bolted off his seat and was on his knees beside his wife. She turned towards him and he began to sob in happiness.

"Thank you Lord! Thank you."

"I think we might be expecting a boy," Sonia began to say,

"No. I want a girl so she takes after her lovely Mum." Michael retorted with conviction.

He held her hands and began to weep, making Sonia to tear up too.

"We are going to become parents Michael."

Sonia urged him to stand and he embraced her gently with his heart overflowing with joy unspeakable. Before he met Sonia, marriage was never on his mind as he was terrified of having someone like his mother controlling his life. The moment she stepped into his life, everything changed and he even dared to dream of having a family and now all of his new found dreams were coming to pass. He said many silent prayers of thanksgiving to God. His family was about to expand and he could not wait to share the news with his parents.

Over the following days, the Moses and Rogers Families were informed and they were overjoyed but Mrs. Rogers surprised them the most. When they visited the couple, she gave Sonia a warm embrace and began lecturing her on the journey to motherhood and even promised to move in with them once the baby arrived. Sonia was happy with the turn of events but remained cautious. Her family on the other hand stayed over the following weekend. Michael experienced what a loving family looked like. He was showered with praises by his parents-in-law and was taken aside by Papa Sonia for men to men talk. It was one of the best period of his life to date, with the exemption of his wedding day.

But just as Sonia suspected, her mother-in-law was far from happy. The gifts she brought included medications for expectant mothers: Gaviscon for digestive problems and Acetaminophen for pain. Sonia checked them all over the internet and with their family doctor, Miss. Gavin who approved them and gushed on how caring her mother-in-law was. Sonia kept the medications inside one of the cabinets in the kitchen for when she might need them. But, she was also instructed by Dr. Gavin to inform her when she decides to use them. Few weeks passed and Sonia felt she needed to take Gaviscon after four days of being bloated. She washed her hands and grabbed a paper towel by the Kitchen Island. She pulled open one of the cabinet doors hanging over the Island and the medication paper began to fall and she moved back.
