EVERYONE WAS BACK inside of the room. Leo and his wife and the other man sat next to each other and Emily sat next to her grandparents.

"so what happens now?" Leo asked Joseph. the lawyer sat behind his desk. "since you are her legal guardian , she will have to go and stay with you. but you can still give up your guardianship to her grandparents if you want to" Joseph said.

Emily's eyes diverted to her lap. she was afraid of what he would say. she was scared of getting rejected by her own father.

"actually , me and my wife would love her with us" Leo spoke and Emily looked up to meet his eyes. his eyes were kind , just like her mother once told her.

Emily realised that his wife hadn't said anything ever since they arrived. was this all an act? now , Emily hesitated if she really wanted to go with them.

"are you okay with that?" Joseph asked her , catching her off guard. Emily was sad to leave her grandparents , but she knew she didn't really have a choice. she also wanted to get to know her father a little bit more.

so she nodded her head. Louise and David gave her a huge smile , excited for her to start her new journey with her fsther.

"will i...still be able to see them?" Emily asked softly and Leo nodded his head. "definitely" he answered and she nodded her head.

"okay then ,it's settled. i will get a social worker in Barcelona to check up on you guys every two weeks until the year is over" Joseph said and Leo nodded his head.

"for now , Emily will go to her grandparents" house to process everything and to get herself ready" Joseph said. he didn't really know much about that stuff , but he prepared himself for it. Valentina was his friend and he knew she only wanted what was best for her daughter.

"when will i go?" Emily asked. "i leave in three days" Leo said and Emily nodded her head. she felt her nose burning and knew she wanted to cry but she swallowed her tears.

"is that all for today?" Louise asked and the lawyer nodded his head and stood up , making everyone stand up aswell.

he greeted them and walked down with them. the three of them climbed into the car and Emily waved at her father and his wife before closing the car door and putting on her seatbelt.

Emily felt kind of scared to leave the country without her mother or her grandparents , but she knew she had to do it if she wanted to get to know him.

"you okay , hija?" Louise asked and Emily nodded her head as they drove down the road.

"more than okay , abuela"
