Donatello woke up, staring at the ceiling for the next hour after that. He finally decided to get up after a while and walked out to the kitchen with his favorite purple hoodie on. He kept it on whenever he didn't have his battle shell, so he felt at least some sort of protection on his vulnerable soft shell. He made himself a cup of coffee, sitting down at the bar counter and scrolling through his feed.
Mikey had been cooking, since it gave him practice for his hands, he continued doing it. Though the little turtle did have to frequently ask raph for help with the seemingly too heavy or difficult stuff. He lifted the pan, having to use both hands, and flipped the pancake onto its other side.
Raph sat at another stool at the bar counter, watching Mikey and zoning out.
Leo walked in, yawning and stretching. He smiled when he saw everyone was out. Then sat in his stool. "So, what's shakin' bacon?" He asked, not really aimed at anyone.
"Sup Leo! Just making some pancakes, want some?" Mikey smiled, turning to Leo.
"Sure. Why not" Leo shrugged. "What about you big guy? What's up?" He turned to face Raph, who was still zoned out. "Hello?" He waved his hand in front of the snapper's face, snapping his fingers a bit to get his attention.
Raph suddenly jolted back into reality and blinked, looking down at Leo. "Uh— sorry Leo. Zoned out—" He said in a slightly embarrassed tone.
"It's cool, you doing okay?" Leo patted his shoulder.
"Yeah, just been catching up on much needed rest. As everyone should be doing." Raph replied.
"Good. And you Donnie? After what happened last night? Leo turned to the soft shell, whose hood was down. That meant he was actually listening. And that he wasn't in a bad mood.
Donnie turned to Leo, nodded, and turned back to his phone.
"What happened last night?" Mikey asked curiously, setting the plates down on the counter one by one and using both hands for each one.
"Oh, Don ended up having another hallucination episode. It's alright though, I was able to calm him down." Leo reassured them, seeing their faces change to worry, then back to their calm, happyish faces.
"Could have woken me up, I would've helped." Raph said.
"Yeah, me too!" Mikey added.
"You two seemed to be sleeping peacefully, didn't wanna ruin that. Not to mention you two are not wake-up-extremely-late-at-night turtles." Leo grinned.
"Fair point." Raph sighed. "Although if I am awake when that happens, come find me and I'll help as best as I can." He added on.
"Alright, I told Donnie to talk to us via the communicator cuffs when that happens." Leo nodded.
Raph nodded back.
Mikey shovelled his food into his mouth, since his fingers were tired from cooking.
Donnie sipped his coffee and scrolled.
Leo and Raph talked some more.
Suddenly Splinter burst into the room, causing everyone to jump in surprise.
Donnie spilled his coffee on his hoodie and the counter, frozen in shock he stared at the mess.
Raph nearly fell out of his stool.
Leo did as well but Raph caught him before he hit the ground.
Mikey just looked up from his face full of food.
"Dad what's wrong?!" Raph asked, thinking something happened.
"Veronica said no!! And now Jason is having to date Emily!" Splinter whined.
". . . . You seriously came in to tell us that—" Leo was suddenly interrupted.
"Veronica said no?!" Raph jumped out of his stool. "How could she?!"
"I do not know!" Splinter replied.
"Well go see what happens next! I wanna know what happened after!" Raph pointed to the door.
Splinter nodded and ran out.
Raph turned back to them, Leo was staring at him, blinking. Mikey seemed to be helping Donnie with something. "What? It's the only way we would be able to get him to go."
"Interesting." Leo smirked.
"Hey, it's okay D. We can wash it. It's no big deal—" Mikey was comforting his brother, who just stared at the hoodie in disbelief.
The other two turned, spotting the softshell and box turtle.
"Oh no, did he spill his coffee?" Raph asked.
"Must have ended up doing that when splinter barged in." Leo guessed.
"It was my favorite hoodie. . ." Donnie mumbled.
"It still can be, let's just wash it I'm sure we can get the coffee off." Mikey smiled.
"Okay. ." Donnie went to take off the hoodie, but paused when he felt the cold, open air hit his shell. He shivered and immediately put it back on. "Nope— nope no, you know what I'll just deal with it— it's just a stain. ." He stood and quickly left, flipping his hood up over his head.
Mikey just watched the soft-shell leave with a blink. "Okay—"
Raph sighed. "I'll talk to him." He left.
Leo and Mikey nodded, then went back to talking.

Raph knocked on the door to D's room. He heard a mumble similar to "come in" and opened it, walking in and being careful not to break or move anything out of its place. He knew how much D hated that.
D was sitting on his bed, staring at his hoodie stain.
"I see you still don't feel comfortable with your shell not being covered?" Raph sat beside his brother, the bed frame making a loudish creaking sound as he did so.
Donnie nodded.
"I know you know this but, you're okay here. You don't have to have your shell protected all the time."
D nodded. "I know, it's just— I'm vulnerable without it. . And I hate how empty and cold my back feels when I don't have anything on it." He rubbed the soft fibers of his coffee stained hoodie.
"I know, and I am sorry you still feel that way. I get the kraang incident had a number on you. I'm assuming that was what happened last night?"
"Yeah. . Just another stupid kraang one. . ." D sighed.
"It's alright, it isn't stupid. And you can't stop those things from happening. Don't feel bad because that happens." Raph reassured his younger brother.
"Alright. . Thanks Raphael" Donnie nodded.
"Happy to help. Well, do you want one of my hoodies while we wash that one?" Raph asked, standing.
"Sure, thank you." Donnie nodded again.
Raph nodded back and left, coming back later with a massive red hoodie in hand. "Just don't spill coffee on this one" He chuckled jokingly. Then handed his brother the hoodie.
Donnie took his purple one off as quickly as possible, then put on the large one. He smiled a bit, rubbing his cheek on the silky fibers. "Thanks, I'll make sure not to."
Raph smiled as well. He knew Donnie loved that hoodie due to its size and texture. He picked up the purple hoodie and left.

One hour later
Raph, Leo, and Mikey all walked into D's room to check up on him. All they saw was a large hoodie, looking like it was crumpled up in a large pile on the bed. They walked over, then smiled.
D had fallen asleep, he had cocooned himself in the large red hoodie and was sleeping soundly. His head was the only thing showing, and even then it was barely visible.
Mikey smiled and pulled out his phone, taking a few pictures. "Heh, I'm totally adding these to the family scrapbook." He grinned.
Raph and Leo just rolled their eyes.
"Alright, let's leave him be. We don't wanna wake him. He'll have our shells if he finds out we were in here without his permission. And especially if he finds out Mikey took pictures of him sleeping." Raph said.
They left, leaving the soft shell turtle to sleep peacefully.
