"Where is he?!" The brothers exclaimed, sprinting into the room they were told to go into.
The softshell groaned at the sudden loud noises, shifting ever so slightly and humming in relief for the heating pad.
"Shhhh, I urge you to silence yourselves. He is. . Alright, he is just asleep as of now." Draxum stated, standing from the chair that sat in front of the couch and setting down a book he had been reading.
"What happened to him? We were told he was hurt, why do you have him?" The slider questioned quickly, receiving a large hand on his face to quiet him. (courtesy of Raph)
"I suppose I will explain what I have been told, so long as you are not loud."
The other two glanced at Leo.
". . Fine." He agreed, shoving the hand away."Sit, I will begin from when I found him, and leave the rest for him to explain" The sheep man gestured to a row of seats that was provided for them, sitting back down and setting his book on the stand beside his own seat.
They sat, eyeing the sleeping softshell and awaiting for the Baron to begin speaking.
"I found him in an alleyway, lying on the dirty concrete flooring in high distress, so I decided to take him here for recovery. I will admit, at first my intentions were not well, but I changed my mind after seeing how urgent it was. I have since postponed my plans to further aid him in his recovery process, and taken it upon myself to let him reside here for however long is needed."
"Do ya know what happened to 'im. . ?" Raph questioned after a small pause.
"Indeed, I do." He nodded. "A group of juvenile humans took it upon themselves to injure him greatly because he was quote; 'in their hangout'."
"And—"
"There were around five or six, as I was informed." He said, already knowing what the question was before it was even asked.
They all nodded, glancing back over at the fourth terrapin solemnly.Suddenly there was a small groan, followed by the slight shift of the blanket and a small whimper. "P- Papa. . ?" Donnie croaked, turning his head towards the Baron.
"Yes, child?"
"Who- who are you talking. . To?"
"Papa?!" The three exclaimed, nearly jumping out of their seats out of shock.
"Ah, perhaps I should have mentioned that detail sooner."
"G-" He went to turn to them while laying on his elbow, wincing and whimpering in pain. "Guys. . ?"
"Donnie!" Mikey called, jumping up out of his seat and going to hug the latter.
"M- Michael?"
"I highly suggest you do not touch his shell or rib areas, they are unwell." Draxum pointed out.
"P- please. ." Donnie agreed.
"Sooo, we just gonna skip over the fact he just called you papa?" Leo questioned.
The genius sunk back into the blanket, thoroughly embarrassed.
"Because he seems comfortable with the name so I suppose I will be letting it slide. Is there perhaps a problem, Leonardo?" He crossed his arms, cocking an eyebrow."W- well— uh— I mean—" He stumbled over his words, trying to find the correct wording.
"What he's tryin' to say is, you're kind of a villain and supposed to be our enemy— and it just caught us by surprise 's all."
"Mhm, well I suppose you aren't quite in the wrong, though you could have said it a little quieter."
Donnie murmured something inaudible, pulling the blanket over his head.
"Eh, so, what was it ya wanted to explain Don?" Raph turned back to him.
"Hm. . ?" He removed the blanket from his head, confused.
"About earlier. What we have agreed on doing for the current situation." Draxum reminded.
"What. . ? Oh— R- right—" He took a breath, exhaling slowly and beginning his explanation. "M- me and Papa agreed I was gonna stay for awhile, at least until I heal. . Erm— He also suggested that- you guys stay here, too. Because- because erm. ."
"Because the rat is not fit to take care of the four of you whatsoever. At least not from what I have been informed of." The Baron finished for him.
"Uhhhh. . Okay— not what I was expectin' to be honest—" Raph chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head."Understandable." He nodded.
"Uhh, question, is there other options?" The slider asked, receiving a small slap in the back of the head. And by Mikey of all people.
"Oh just give him a chance Lee! If Dee trusts him I do!"
"Oh, sorry I'm still upset about being thrown off a ROOF!" He snapped, pouting and rubbing the back of his head.
"Fair enough, I wouldn't either." The sheep man nodded.
"Well, then I guess we can if it's alright— Otherwise we woulda just found a hotel or somethin' instead."
"Y- you'd have better luck in- the bottom of a dumpster." The softshell said.
Draxum couldn't help but give a faint smile at the quote, eyes drifting to the latter but staying facing the three. "Yes, he is correct. As I told him before, you would have better luck in the bottom of a dumpster. The majority of the hotels in this city and even in the human realm are quote; 'rip-offs', or they do not provide the necessary needs for one to reside there for longer than a day."
"Oh, good to know." Mikey nodded.
"T- that's what I said. ." The genius chuckled lightly, wincing.
"And this entire situation works out because we ran away." The slider spoke, crossing his arms and leaning back in the chair. "Betcha five bucks we would've been kicked out next if we stayed there another day."
