"Hey, 'Tello, ya there? Wake up bud it's time for lunch."
There was a stubborn groan, the blanket lifting off of the softshell's upper face. " 'm just gonna. . Throw it back up—"
"I know you still aren't Feelin' well but ya gotta at least try, 'kay?"
"Mmmm. . Hurts—"
"I know, but from what I see it's just bruising and such on the ribs and shell so you should be alright in about a week or two."
"W- wanna. . Help—"
"No, I get you don't feel very productive and all that jazz just layin' here but ya gotta lay down and heal. Otherwise ya ain't ever gonna help man. I thought you knew that already?"
He just shifted slightly and whimpered in response.
The slider sighed. "Alright, fine. But you're at least eating dinner, got it?"
There was only a groan in response as the latter went back under the blanket.
"Good. Wanna watch a movie until I gotta leave?"
"S- sure. . ."
"Alright, lemme find my phone—" He rummaged through the fanny pack, letting out a small "aha!" When he found what he was looking for.
The latter just lifted the blanket off his head completely, turning it to face him. "N- 'Nardo. . ?"
"Yeah-?"
"What if I don't get better—?"
". . Dude don't say that. Did Mikey give you more of that weird pain medicine again? I think it's makin' ya delirious right now."
"No. . I mean- really. It- it isn't supposed to take this long to heal from bruised ribs. . ."
"Well they did hit ya pretty hard. . And it has only been a little over a week so I doubt it woulda' been fully healed by now."
"Alright. . I guess you are the medic. . ."
About 2 ½ weeks later, present day:
SCREAM!!!
"DONNIE—?!"
——————
The three brothers dead sprinted for the room Donnie was supposed to be resting in, busting the door open frantically and spotting the genius gasping desperately for air on the ground.
He was on his knees, shaking like a leaf while holding a death grip on the side of the couch. He was hunched forward, the other hand lightly hitting his plastron to try and gain the air into his lungs. He soon gave up, clawing with his free hand at the ground. He gasped loudly, crying out in pain and squeezing the couch harder.
Draxum was the fourth to bust in, nearly breaking the doorframe as he sprinted past the others and to the softshell's side. He gently rubbed circles onto his carapace, only receiving a scratchy cry of pain in response.
His vision suddenly went white, body tensing unwillingly and causing the Baron to pull away as white hot pain surged through his body.
"Don- Don what's wrong-? Why are you on the ground did you try to walk again?" Leo spoke, kneeling in front of the twin and carefully lifting his head to face him. He noticed how uneven and heavy the breaths were, sounding as if he was practically suffocating, and how his pupils were pinpricks. He examined his plastron, as well as a small portion of his shell, and noticed nothing unusual. "All of the injury must be internal- that's probably why he can't breathe!"
Suddenly, the softshell's eyes rolled back, falling forward into Leo's lap as his hold released from the couch.
The slider managed to catch him just in time, careful not to touch his rib area as he did so. "Guys- guys we need to get him to a hospital. NOW!" He snapped, maneuvering his arms underneath the latter and shifting him on his back so he could pick him up. He stood, frantically walking out with the others in tow.
"I know of one, it is not far from here." Draxum stated, beginning to lead the way.
"He's not fucking breathing, we don't have time! Someone grab my Ōdachi!" He turned his head to the other two, in which Mikey ran to grab it.
Raph stepped forward, looking worriedly at the softshell. "Do ya need me to carry him?" He offered.
"Yes, I can't use it while holding him." He thrust the twin to the latter, reaching out for his sword as Mikey came bounding in and promptly slicing open a large portal. "In. Now!"
