(Small continuation of the "Mama Help!" Oneshot because so many people wanted an aftermath back on Ao3 so why not give you all one?)
(I apologize I haven't conducted too much research on what it's like to be blind so I'm only going to write a small "description" on it for Donnie so I don't (hopefully) offend anyone. Please let me know if I'm offending anyone I will rerite immediately.)

The journey home was quite. . Heart wrenching- to say the least. Donatello ended up having a breakdown halfway to the lair due to the immense amount of fear he was in. The pain was more bearable, though. Yet he continuously asked Raph to cover his shell 'just in case'. The snapper tried reasoning with the younger, saying that would only hurt him further.

Donnie did not listen.

So, with a small sigh, Raph used his hand to cover as much of the shell as he could. Surprisingly-and quite worryingly-the softshell didn't flinch or even acknowledge any pain.
"P- please- Don't g- go away- y- D- Don't lea- ve me-" The genius begged, hold tightening as he buried his face into the crook of the older's neck.
"Hey, hey, I won't. I promise, Don. I would never, I'll stay with ya for as long as ya need-" The red-clad reassured, receiving a small murmur in response.
"T- thanks. . . Mama. ." The scientist murmured, loosening his hold ever so slightly.
"No prob, Dee. . Big bro's got ya." He exited the city through the dumpster portal, carefully hopping in while holding the genius close.

The patch-up process wasn't much better, either. . .

Donnie kept snapping and thrashing as Leo attempted to heal the wounds on his carapace, the others having to step in and attempt to calm him down so he could do it.
Raph decided to have the genius just bite his arm, since he was not calming down any time soon, while Mikey whispered reassuring words to help remind him they weren't gonna hurt him.
They heard him murmur something along the lines of "Not again, no not again." Whenever they went near his shell or even his limbs, constantly flinching away with each touch or loud movement. He even teared up a bit, his oddly cloudy eyes snapping shut. "So dark," they heard him mutter as well, concern growing.
"Just open your eyes- it isn't dark in here-" Leo commented, quite surprisingly not cracking a joke.

"Here, take some water, you seem dehydrated. Maybe you're just tired?" Mikey inquired, holding up a small cup of water.
The softshell hesitantly opened his eyes, slowly sitting up and looking around.
"Here," Mikey held out the glass, worry only growing as he watched the genius reach for nothing.
"D- dark-" He mumbled again, slightly louder.
"Wait- here Mikey, move over real quick. I gotta see somethin'." Leo shuffled his way over, moving into Mikey's previous spot and carefully lifting the twin's face to get a better look.
His eyes were a slight milky colour, not as much as expected, but still there.

Red flag number 1.

He wasn't directly looking at him, and it didn't seem intentional.

Red flag number 2. . .

"Donnie, how many fingers am I holding up?" He pulled away, lifting up his hand and holding up 1.
"U- uhm. . C- can't see- too dark-" He gulped, flinching slightly at a sudden noise beside him.
"I was holding up one. . ." Leo murmured, shoulders dropping in dismay. "Guys- what happened in that place?" He turned to Raph, knowing he wouldn't get many answers from the twin.
"I- don't know- I only saw what they showed-" the snapper responded.
"What did they show?"
"They, erm, they hit him- as you can see by the scratch on his face- and they- clawed his shell-" He gulped, knowing something was very clearly up when the blue-clad's face showed something of horror. "Why-? What's wrong with him-?"
"Because he's blind!" Leo snapped, turning back to the purple-clad. "They must've hit some sort of optic nerve when they did that!"
"Will it- be able to be fixed?" Mikey questioned softly.
". . ."
"Leo?"
"It's- It's permanent, Mikey. He's never going to see again, and it's all because of those furry little bastards!"

"Oh- And- it- could've been prevented. . . Had I been quicker. ." The snapper practically whispered.
"What? What do you mean?"
"Donnie- Donnie I'm so, so sorry- I- I should've been faster. . This is all my fault- Donnie I'm sorry. . ." He choked up, gently wrapping his arms around the softshell. He was mindful of the bandages, though.
All he could do was shake his head in denial, shoving his face in the crook of his neck once more.
"Raph- Why are you saying it's your fault?" Mikey repeated.
"Because- If I had been faster- He wouldn't be as hurt- If I had better memory, he wouldn't have been hurt! But he is, and badly. I just watched them fucking torture him and couldn't do anything about it!" He snapped, expression instantly softening when he felt Donnie's hold tighten with a whimper. "Hey, hey, 'ts okay. . I'm not gonna- 'M not gonna let them hurt you again. . ."

"Raph, you're pulling a Leo." Mikey informed.
"Hey!" Leo exclaimed.
"You said it yourself, big guy, you couldn't do anything about it-"
"Yes but-"
"Ah-ah-ah, not done." Mikey interrupted. "You couldn't help, you didn't even know where they were, which was intended. They turned it into a sick game just because they don't have the guts to ask you directly. None of this is your fault, or his. It's all theirs." He crossed his arms, very clearly not taking no as an answer.
"Heh. . Yeah- I guess you're right-"
"I know."
"No wait hold on, we ain't just gonna glaze over the fact you said he was pulling a me!"
"Oh bugger off, Leo. You know it's true." Mikey rolled his eyes, shoving Leo's face away with his hand.

There was a small, breathy chuckle from the other end of the bed by Raph.

The three looked around, then over at the fourth brother. There was a small smile on his face, which they almost missed.
"Heh, guess he thought it was funny." Raph stated.
"Probably because Leo was 'suffering'." Mikey giggled.
"Blasphemy!" Leo called. "Blasphemy I say!"
"Not how it's used Leo."
"It is indeed how it's used!"
"Sure, didn't know you were a king now."
"Indeed I am! And you shall not utter such disrespect to my na-" He was suddenly shoved away by the same hand as before, gasping dramatically and flipping his mask tails. He walked out with a 'hmph!'

"Drama queen."

"Heard that!!"

"Guys, I think he heard that."

"I just said that!!"

Mikey rolled his eyes, turning to the duo and smiling. "I'll leave you two, he's probably tired. And from the looks of it, he isn't gonna be letting go anytime soon." He giggled a bit and snapped a quick photo, leaving without another word.

Raph turned to the younger in his arms, smiling softly. "Hey, if ya gonna be stuck to me, at least let me on the bed. You look uncomfortable with ya body twisted like that-"
The genius just murmured something inaudible in response.
"Kinda impressive though, wish I could do that." He chuckled lightly, carefully picking the younger up and sitting on the bed. He shifted so that he was laying on his shell, and Donnie was snuggled up in between his side and arm. He draped a blanket over him from the end of the bed, laying his arm carefully on top to ensure he felt safe. "Go to sleep, Don. I'm right here, and I ain't leavin', 'kay?" He cooed, noticing his brother was still tense, quite possibly still shaken up about the whole thing. Understandable, though.

He just nodded and closed his tired eyes, his body relaxing from the exhaustion he realized he was in. He draped his arm over Raph's plastron to ensure he was still, in fact, there.
Raph began to hum a small tune, one they used to hum when they were kids. He gently patted the younger's side in a soothing pattern, smiling when he felt him adjust to be more comfortable. He closed his eyes, continuing to hum.

The two soon fell asleep.
