Spring came too soon and preparations were made to return Krish to his rightful place.
I was excited to start this new life, yet reluctant to leave the life with the Elfes behind. I knew that when Merrykara became my wife and I had been crowned the rightful King of Fernlands, there was no turning back.
My human responsibilities would take precedence over my Universal ones, although the two were considered inseparable.
Samual and Greava were staying in Glyden. The Elfes needed the communication our telepathic connections gave them. Samual was linked to both Habieb and I, as well as to Dharfien in Floverne.
It was a good arrangement with Ishmay and Gladien communicating regularly by using the Telepaths.
The same was true for me. There were some arrangements that had to be sorted out speedily and King Lancet made use of Merrykara's connection to me in order to communicate with Connor.
It seemed an acceptable method that came quite naturally to everyone, except the Telepaths that felt depleted and drained afterwards.
If I felt tired, needing Moira to help boost me, I did not want to know what Merrykara was experiencing in order to assist us with this function. I did thank her sincerely for her services to us after every time we had linked.
Gladien had been invited to the wedding. He agreed to leave his lands for a while to join us in the celebrations as Representative of the Elfen Nation. A handful of guards were coming with us, as well as Raico and Judya.
Strongclaw had declined to join me in my new adventures. The bird had already been of advanced age when I had met him two Winters ago. Ravens did not live that long and although I was very fond of his presence, it was better for him to stick around in a comfortable environment. He had seen the world, more than most Ravens could boast and he was content to take life at a slower pace.
"Besides," he informed me with a twinkle in his eye, "I need to look after Greava."
I suspected that the fondness that had developed between the two from the start would have something to do with his change in loyalty. I told him that I loved him and left him in the rafters above Ravenstar and Merzuk's stable.
Moira was my constant companion and Windshine was still my brave battle stallion.
Connor kept to a leisurely pace with the result that we arrived at King Lancet's lands in fine form. The Spring ploughing had already been completed with most of the fields sowed or planted.
It was a good time of the year to have a wedding, for people could take a small break from their daily routine.
At the Palace, we were given a whole stable block to accommodate our horses. Adjoining chambers were made available for our personal accommodation. Gladien was given a chamber to himself with the rest of the Elfes in a separate, communal chamber. Connor and Reif were sharing, and Drake, Brutus, Marshall, Habieb and I were stuck together until I was wedded.
The grown-ups needed to talk, leaving us to our own devices. Marshall was familiar with this Castle and took us to the Royal Family's private gardens where we met up with Merrykara, her brothers and their caregivers.
Marshall was greeted as an old family friend and the princes immediately occupied his attention. Merrykara shyly asked me how my Winter had been. I replied that it had been a busy Winter with a lot of training, totally different from the normal boring routine.
