Ishmay convinced me to translate at least a few pages before escorting me for a relaxing bath before dinner.
Afterwards, we joined the others in the Dining Hall.
All my companions looked extremely well. The rest of the last few days had done them wonders.
Habieb informed me that they had been training inside the wing of the Palace specially set aside for this purpose. Marshall and Samual had become close friends, and although Habieb felt a bit left out at times, he coped with not having me around.
*It is not easy trying to communicate with you, finding the door locked all the time. Are you well?* Habieb enquired while eating.
*I am coping as best I can. Why? Is it so obvious from my appearance that something is amiss?* I wanted to know from him.
Habieb thought carefully about his answer, not wanting to offend me.
I had to smile at this. My companions did not want me to get angry or unnecessary upset with them.
*Actually, yes. Have you seen yourself lately?*
*No* I answered him. No mirror of any kind had been available to me since arriving at the Palace.
*May I enlighten you?* Habieb cautiously requested from me.
*Yes, you may show me what you see.*
I allowed him the few seconds to gather himself before transferring the picture in his mind as he saw me.
It was a shocking revelation.
Through his eyes, I saw a gangly youth with darkened curls sprouting unruly in every direction. The face was slim, bordering on anorexic, with deep hollows for eyes, bathed in blue shadows.
Two bright amber coals showed the fire that glowed within the spirit housed in this undernourished, stringy body.
Krish's once plump, handsome baby face was no longer in evidence. The boyish body had grown considerably, towering upwards in an effort to endure that which the spirit within demanded from it.
*I need a haircut* I commented to Habieb.
*I would suggest more sleep* he replied.
**More food** Moira chipped into the conversation.
Habieb did not perceive this invasion that brought a sudden smile to my lips.
The intense concentration lines on the image Habieb was still portraying disappeared as the smile softened the whole face, bringing the boyish looks back to Krish's body.
*You should smile more* Habieb encouraged.
Connor wanted my attention. Habieb closed our connection.
"Are you done with dinner?"
Both Connor and Reif were waiting for me to finish.
I had taken twice as much food as I usually did and could see the concern of the elder men growing.
"Yes, thank you" I replied, hunger still foremost in my mind.
Moira was upset with me. She knew I suffered when she had to grow.
