A very bright light shone into my face.
Peeking through half closed eyelids, I saw Jamal's face near mine.
"It is going to be alright. Your body will be healed shortly. Rest now."
I closed my eyes and gave in to the peaceful feeling around me . . .
"He should have been dead" Brutus told someone.
"Well, he did not die, now did he?" Marshall replied.
"It would have been impossible for a man to have carried on in battle with that wound" Judya commented.
"We will enquire from him when he wakes up" Connor said while coming over to me.
Strongclaw fluffed his feathers and hopped out of Connor's way, in the process stretching his wing over my face, tickling my nose.
"I hope you are going to scratch that" I informed the bird.
"Han!" he squawked, pushing his head into my neck.
I reached up with my right hand and stroked his feathers.
"I missed you too" I told him. I really did.
"Glad you made it back to the Land of the Living" Connor greeted.
**I'm glad too** Moira said in my head.
I smiled at the new, yet absolutely familiar feeling of being permanently connected with another living being.
Silently, within her own connection to me, Moira was following everything that was going on around me.
My heart was suddenly ready to pop out of my chest from happiness.
I felt whole again!
I had a friend in my head again!
It was the most wonderful feeling ever!
"You look extremely cheerful" Marshall commented, squatting next to me.
Connor was busy removing the bandage over my chest. All my upper garments had been removed in order to tend to the wound.
"How are Habieb and Raico?" I asked.
"Habieb is sleeping. He had only sustained a flesh wound" Connor replied.
"Raico is not doing well" Marshall whispered, lowering his eyes.
I expanded my aura, making it large enough to incorporate the whole cave we were in. Strongclaw complained and the horses stamped in disagreement of this sudden energy surrounding them.
I found Ishmay tending to Raico. He was indeed not doing well at all. He needed the touch of a healer urgently.
I reduced my aura back to normal proportions as soon as I had scouted around the area. The horses calmed down, but Strongclaw kept a beady eye on me, suspicion evident in his nervous movements.
Connor shook his head at my wound.
"I cannot believe it. You should have been dead. Now you are almost healed completely. It is going to leave a scar, but for broken ribs and torn muscles and ligaments to heal this fast is a miracle."
